I've been seeing a lot of posts on here about the top speed being 120 MPH for a 2012 Acura 3.7L SH-AWD 6 speed manual. I have a 2012 3.5L FWD 6 speed automatic and have reached a top speed of just over 130 MPH. Is there a reason why the SH-AWD 6 speed manual is limited to 120 MPH, while the FWD 6 speed automatic can go over 130 MPH? Also what's the top speed y'all have gone on either car?

 

I thought the 6x6 went 150? But ya that's as far as I had my 3.5 up to, 130 on GPS like 133 on the speedometer.

Wow, 130 mph! I've only hit 100 mph once in 12 years of ownership with my 2012 3.5. Was smooth as glass though, felt more like 80mph.

 

How have you only hit 100 once lol. I hit 100 mph daily

danggg , thats true Ive been down there a few times and yeah its pretty bad up their. The night time is a good time to take it 100. you should try it. My TL hits 135 then it hits govern

 

allegedly you can go past govern and hit ~140 if you use manual mode

 

yeah, I took a pretty devious cruise the other day and hit 140, it felt like it was trying to slow itself down tho when I hit it

 

one thing I dont like about the tl 4g is the govern, I used to have a g37 at my disposal and hit 155 like nothing

 

I went 145 in mine the other day. Im thinking with a soiler i could go faster. I have fresh v rated tires. I know with another gear it would go faster. It's highly modified though performance coil pack, tune custom exhaust borola mufflers 3rd cat delete hfcc. Intake manny spacer, tbd spacer takeda intake. Rear diffuser... Tires make a huge difference oh Jet Maf sensor to eat all that extra air. Just put in a 48f agm battrey. I installed the sat nav from a tech package. Had to rewire 2 3rds of the harness. What a pain. I like it though works well. 93 octane only.

 

Why back in 2008 when they were reviewing the new model they list it top speed at 150mph (limiter) was car & driver just wrong? And what about you guys that have a k tuner, does that not remove the limiter? Curious here…

it'll do 150 i was driving not that long ago and hit it. I think the short gears and only 5 of them make it a challenge. Some of my Mods seem maybe not help to either. Intake manifold spacer. Tires are a big part of it how easily it'll get there and stay there. In 5th gear I've got 2000 rpms left if not 3. Its what 4500 rpm @ 150mph. Got alot of wide open space out here. Car and driver I dont think they actually tests top speed. With 6 gears it would be easier to...pretty sure it says 150est.
