Just bought a 2010 AWD TL HPT last night; I think I got a good price, from $44, 125 to $38,500 with free maintenance like oil changes for 4 years or 48,000 miles. Reading at the prices($1400) some of you guys paid for the 8 years 100,000 warranty, I feel like I got ripped off. I paid $2315 with the so called Costco discount, otherwise it would have been $3900. Any one else, paid this much?

Yes - you paid too much.. I'm not sure what this "costco" discount is. I have yet to ever buy an extended warranty. Did you get the actual Acuracare warranty? Or some 3rd party one?

When i got my car they tried to push me the 3rd party one... they almost lost the deal because of it..

I got quoted $1400 for an 8yr 100k mile Acuracare warranty after the fact.

Anything you get offered in the finance office is almost 100% overpriced.

I got the Acura care from American Honda Finance Corp. I'm going back to the dealer on Monday and ask to lower the price or cancel the extended warranty. Is there a website that list the pricees of these warranties, my plan is D80- 8 years or 100,000 miles.

They don't sell them online anymore, so no website that would show it. Don't pay more than $1400 for it, judging from the quotes that everyone had received.

Are you in Florida or CA? If not, I would demand a refund unless they drop the price down to $1,400 or so. If they don't, cancel it and get a refund. I believe you have 60 days to back out of the warranty.
Acura no longer sells warranties on-line. However, you can inquire about the price of warranties by email to various dealers. I believe a couple that I've heard that give good deals is Curry Acura and Bernardi Acura. Actually, if you fill out Bernardi's webform, they will have a quote back to you in a couple of hours. At least that is what they did for me.

I would absolutely get a refund. If they won't sell it to you for $1400, then just get it from one of the other dealers out there.

I got my 100k/7 yr., $0 deductible AcuraCare warranty for $1195 and it's transferrable should I ever decide to sell the car. I think it's a must for a car with tech. I got it thru Curry Acura. They were a pleasure to deal with. Just be sure to do it befor the car has 6000 miles (IIRC) or you can't do it for that price.

Did you get that when it was still available online? I think the prices went up since then, lowest price i found was $1400 thru bernardi and curry.

I think rules for Florida & California are different. I couldn't buy it from the internet and those two dealers couldn't sell it to me. I ended up getting it from my dealer for $1500. Not bad but not amazing.

My dealerships finance person kept lowering the prices by himself til $1600 (it started at around $2,000) and i asked for cheaper, so they took another $100 off. I might have been able to lower it even more but I was tired of haggling. Either way, $2315 is a HUGE ripoff.

Yes Pete, I think I heard about it online but then I had some querstions and I spoke to someone at the dealership once or twice. He was very helpful and I then sent him a check. About a month later I received the warranty directly from AcuraCare. Like I said, a very pleasant experience without undue drama.

I just got a quote for $1,045 for 7yr / 100K, $0 deductible from Hyannis Honda. This is for a 2010 TL w/Tech and under 6K miles.

I agree, that's way too much $$. I'd definitely try to get a refund or least a substantial price reduction.

I personally don't buy into the extended warranty pitch, I think they are all pretty much overpriced and the one time I did buy one, over 25 years ago, it was crap and they didn't cover the problems on the car.

I also briefly ventured into the car sales business about 20 years ago and seeing what some sales and F&I guys pulled when pricing an extended warranty was pretty bad. They would make up the price, sometimes at ridiculous costs and pity the poor customer that didn't think they couldn't negotiate the price on that as well.

Personally I'd rather just take that money and sock it away and earn a bit of interest while the car is covered under the factory warranty.

Just my and I'm sure there are others out there that swear by them, but given my experience, I passed on the extended warranty when I bought the new TL. Also missed out on the wheel damage insurance ($900), the paint protection ($1000), leather care treatment ($750) and the litany of other items they were trying to sell. It was two pages of stuff and think if you bought them all it would've been close to $4-5K.

Hopefully your dealer will take care of your concerns with the pricing and do the right thing.

That's a pretty good price! I believe mine was $1150, 6 years / 120k, AcuraCare, when it was still legit through online.

I will never get extended warranty. It's just not worth it too me. It doesn't cover normal wear and tear or regular maintenance. Funny enough, I got suckered by Acura when I bought my TL in 05 into getting the leather protection. What a waste of $500.

I didn't get the extended warranty on my 99TL. But I did get one online for my 09 TL SH-AWD. I figure it has so many gizmos, and I keep my cars for 10 years, that $1200 was worth it. I initially go it through the dealer, found out they ripped me off, cancelled, and got it online through Burnardi.

Sorry to bump an old-ish thread but I'm interested to hear if anyone has tried and/or had any luck getting the Acuracare extended warranty after they bought their TL recently... especially here in California.

My TL is about one month old and I need to cancel the one I got from the dealer because it was a rip-off (that I kind of knew about but took it anyway) and replace it with one of these more reasonable ones that people are quoting.

I guess I'll try that Bob guy/Burnardi/etc. but wanted to hear if anyone (in CA) has done it recently with no problems.

I bought the extended warranty for my tsx back in 04. I had the alternator replaced under it since I was out of the normal warranty due to mileage....so it came in handy.

However, I declined on the extended warranty for my TL. For some reason, I didnt like that they did not stand behind their product for a longer period unless you paid them...very shady.

The dealer tried to get us for $1882.00 for 6/100k...I said...hmmm...so for 2k you'll give me an additional 2 years and another 50k on mileage...No Thanks...

I just purchased a TL SHAWD on 7/3/10 and I'm looking at getting a 7yr/100k warranty...anyone actually had to use the one from either Acuracare or Burnardi? My dealer is quoting me $1530 for a 7/100 warranty...should I go through them or get it online?

By the way, loving my new TL...it's a huge step up from my 07 TL w/nav.

I got the 6 year (or was it 7?) / 120K extended from Bernardi before Honda/Acura clamped down on the internet sales. It's genuine Acuracare from Acura so it makes no difference.

You may have to call around as Honda/Acura stopped all the internet sales of extended warranties. But I think you can do it through the telephone.

Any plans for maintenance? I wouldn't mind getting a maintenance plan that would be significantly lower than going to Acura for each service.

F&I guy was pissed I turned down all his offerings, rim protection, maintenance lol.

I purchased Acura Care for my 2012 TL Advance (7yr 100,000K) for $1245. The F&I person first quoted me $1900. Acura of Tempe in Arizona.

I think I got ripped off on the extended warranty. I got something called "Olympicare" 7yr/75k for $2181.00 and that's from $2400 originally. I don't think it's AcuraCare, but one thing this does have is you can get full refund if you don't use the warranty within the warranty period. Does AcuraCare give money back?

I think I can still cancel it within 30 days.. and maybe purchase Acura Care instead if it's still around $1200~. Is Bernardi or Curry still the best place to get them? Thanks!

Acura Care does not have full refund option if not used. I asked that question because I had deal on an extended warranty that I had on a Honda Accord a few years back. If you cancel it before it has expired they will prorate it for you like most others. You might try your own dealer now that you know what they can be bought for. Good luck to you.

I'd say cancel it while you can. You got ripped off. First of all you want the real deal, the genuine AcuraCare warranty and nothing less will suffice. Secondly you paid WAY TOO MUCH for it! The overall best price for the AcuraCare (the real McCoy) is from Bob Loeb at Hyannis Honda in Hyannis, Mass. I paid $1,240 for 8-yr, 100k mile coverage. There is 100% mark up in this warranty. Pull the trigger and cancel it. Expect the dealer to fight you on this as you're taking profit out of their pocket. Stand firm, demand a full refund. AcuraCare is non-refundable, but who cares? You're going to keep the car so there is a very strong likelihood you will eventually dip into that ext'd warranty and the first time you do then the "refundable" is over. Forget the refund. Get AcuraCare.

Thanks for replies, I went in the dealer and waited 1 1/2 hrs, met my financing guy and told him I want to cancel the warranty due to the obligations required on the warranty (oil change 3000miles, timing belt at 60k). He offered me to switch to the AcuraCare (never offered before this one), but without any discounts. I said no way especially I found out what others have paid on this forum. He doesn't seem happy, but finally gave me a paper to sign for the cancellation. It will be deducted from my principal instead of refund. Again, I appreciate all the info here, and learned something that I will definitely double check the fine print and price in the future.

Smart move gmtmaster79. I am a little surprised they did not deal with you. The F&I person at my dealer told me that they not only make the commission on the total cost of the product sold but also get paid based on the percentage of products sold. The magic number for her was 40% in the current period she was setting at 41%. So, even though I made her go low to get my business she still acted happy.

Olympicare is not Acuracare, period. Please note the period.

Olympicare is underwritten by Titan Insurance Company (RRG) of Charleston, SC. They have no affiliation with Honda Motor Company or Acura. New vehicle service agreements (aka extended warranties) sold under the Olympicare name are not a warranty at all but rather are simple mechanical breakdown insurance policies. Selling dealers prefer to sell Olympicare policies because of (1) an even higher profit margin and (2) the "bait" of the refund offer if unused. Olympicare service agreements are very expensive, typically $2,400 for a 7-yr/70,000 mile plan.

Servicing dealers are paid pre-negotiated, discounted amounts for customer repairs approximately equal to "wholesale" amounts paid to them by HMC for the same work. My understanding is that Olympicare in some circumstances can require or request that the servicing dealer use less expensive, aftermarket parts.

If considering an extended warranty, consider keeping your fine Acura car "all Acura" with an AcuraCare plan from Acura (Honda Motor Co).

Hyannis Honda is a HONDA dealership, but they can and do sell the AcuraCare warranty at their wholesale cost. That's where I (and a few others) got it from. Yes, there are other places, but nobody I've found has it any cheaper. (also no sales tax). They will take your plastic over the phone and the deal is completely legit. You will receive your Accurcare warranty package and ID cards in the mail in about 10 to 14 days.

To qualify you must purchase your AcuraCare warranty within the first 6000 miles or 6 mos. of ownership. Available for new cars only.

Most Acura owners if not all will either trash, sell or trade in their rides in less than 5 years so the extended warranty is not worth it.
