TLX headlights for 4th Gen TL?

So I love the look of the TLX headlights; has anyone covered the topic of a possible swap or aftermarket install for 4th gen TL owners?

of course.

if you check out www.theretrofitsouce.com and look through their forums, you'll find that LOTS of people want that look.

the only way its possible is retrofitting.

taking the jewel lights out of the stock housing and putting them in your gutted housing.

in the forums i listed above, they give dimensions and problems and other tips and tricks.

it will be your job to see if the jewel lights will be able to fit inside your TL's head light housing, as the few who are doing it are doing it to the 3rd gen and accords

however; i dont recommend doing it if this is your first attempt. you'll probably fuck something up unless you're super anal and dont mind taking care of itty bitty details.

Are jewel eyes even that much better than projectors as far as output goes?

Just as great just doesn't justify the cost for me. I want to do a retrofit but I think I'll wait for the price to go down and possibly better LED technology.

Eventually the technology should shrink.

Right now, the trouble with retrofitting them is that it wont be a completely sealed system, as the heat sinks are too large for the 3G and 4G housings.

ie; the back of the head light housing will be open due to the length of the heat sink

OMG I knew it would be just a short matter of time before someone asked about putting 5G jewel eyes in their 4G

It's been talked about... Since the MDX jewel eyes and not just 4G owners.

But yeah! How dare people discuss ways to customize their cars...on a car forum out of all places! So stupid, amIright?!

I just saw one here in Miami at lunch! I couldn't believe my eyes. It was def a 2012-14 TL, not a TLX. I hope I see it again so I can snap a pic.

It was probably just angel eyes not actual jewel eyes, they even sell these angel eyes which sort of give the look of jewel eye headlights:

i believe 3g bixenons are 3 inch projectors.. ours are 2.5 inch

there are 2.5 inch bi-xenons.. but to fit it inside.. well that is a different story.. lots of cutting to do.. for someone inexperience, i wouldnt recommend it..
