Is Timing belt change overdue?

I have a 2010 TL-SHAWD with 62,000 miles which I purchased new. I do not push it, but do mostly very short trips of 3 to 10 miles. Coming up on 13 years, the maintenance minder has not suggested a change, but I am starting to think about it. Anyone who has been in this situation care to share their experience?

Usually, for a small mileage, but a large age, small cracks appear on the belt, if you want to change it, then change it, if you are not sure what you need, then remove the upper cover and look at the condition of the belt.

Pretty much this

I would do the service, given the age of the car. Rubber is affected by age.

I did the belt, water pump, front main seal and cam seals at 60K miles on my 2012. I'll say that my belt looked totally fine, but I know its good now.

I recommend doing the oil pump reseal while you're in there. Its a bit more work...but you'll be halfway there when you take off the timing components.

I also have a 2010, with just a little more mileage on it. Acura performed the piston/ring replacement in 2021 when the car had about 50K on it and was 11 years old. They suggested replacing the belt while the motor was apart and I agreed, and also had the water pump replaced while they were in there. My SA reported that the belt looked good, but once they get 10+ years out, you need to worry about heat cycle degradation of the material. I'd go ahead and get it done if you're planning on keeping the car for a while.

I just changed the belt on my 2013. Had 94k miles. Belt looked great, tensioner and idler pulley sounded a little suspect after I removed them and spun them in my hand. Now the tensioner, that thing was leaking, so for piece of mind, I'd certainly change it all including the water pump.

FWIW I changed mine this summer (13’ w/ 45k). Belt looked pretty good to me.

Morning Sir
I can only go from my own vehicles experience. My 2013 Advance AWD had less than 40k when I changed the belt a few months ago. The belt could have lasted a little longer as it was beginning to dry rot, but the issue that concerned me was the small oil leak developing behind the oil pump/oil filter holder. There is a figure 8 gasket behind the oil pump that I am certain you will need to change. That gasket requires you to completely disassemble the front of the engine/timing belt etc to include removing the oil pan. Might as well plan to do the timing belt/oil pump seal/oil pan ASAP to include all gaskets as you do not want to go back in there for another 7 years, and you certainly do not want to break the timing belt "engine replacement". Just my two cents!

Its really infuriating that so many of these cars have oil pump oil leaks, especially at such low mileage.

Makes me wonder what its due to

Before I bought my 2013 TL, the previous owner did the oil consumption recall. At which time they discovered a small leak at the oil pump @ around 50K & resealed it. Very odd indeed.

poor rubber composition in the seals low mileage but time will still cause the rubber to harden

I also had the oil consumption repair done at around 50k, and the oil pump needed to be resealed.
