Time to change rear diff. fluid (SH-AWD) Z1 or DPSF
I have a 2010 Acura TL with SH-AWD and it's time to change the rear differential fluid.
Book says to use ATF-Z1
Dealer says i can use DPSF
Anyone know what's best?

I'm guessing the book is older before there was dedicated DPSF fluid? I just changed it out on my 2013 with the following:
Motor - ~4.5qt 5w20 (Penzoil Platinum) + Mobil1 M1-104 Filter (the S2000 one)
Transfer Case - ~.5qt 75w90 Gear Oil (I used Royal Purple)
Transmission - ~3.5qts Acura ATF-DW1
Differential - ~3qts Acura DPSF

ATF-Z1 is discontinued and very difficult to find. The backwards compatible replacement is ATF-DW1.

Changed mine two weeks ago. Changed it without jacking up the car. DPSF is the standard fluid for mine but I recommend it for the older AFT standard models. The fluid is a little thicker.

Is it difficult to change the rear diff fluid in the TL? I know it was a PITA with the 2G RL because you had to equally fill two different chambers and if not done properly could result in almost immediate failure when driving. There are actually horror stories of people taking their RL's to the dealer to have this service performed and having it botched. And at what mileage is the fluid change recommended?

It's so easy a 51 year old man can do it without jacking up the car.
- One chamber
- Drain plug similar to transmission (longer magnet)
- Remove upper fill plug and fill till it spills out. (can't overfill if car is level)
(Will need a quart bottle pump commonly used to fill ALL differentials)

Detailed DIY: https://acurazine.com/forums/diy-faq...change-776568/
Will need new seal washers.
Drain: 18mm - Same as transmission (90471-PX4-000)
Fill: 20mm - Replacement is not as critical as the drain. (94109-20000)
I purchase mine and fluid from the web: REAR DIFFERENTIAL - MOUNT for 2012 Acura TL
Fluid: AWD FLUID (DPSF) | Genuine Acura | 08200-9007A
