Thoughts on deal for new 2012 TL SH-AWD Advance...

As you guys may know I have been researching pricing on a new 2012 TL SH-AWD Advance Mayan/Umber since the release and have finally got some good number so I believe... Want to run them by you guys to get your thoughts...

Trade 2010 TL SH-AWD Tech 21500 miles... Same color combo as the new..
Trade - 31660

New - 42,660 (11,000 difference) plus tax, title transfer and doc fee... Destination included... 1.9% @ 60

What's your thoughts... Keep driving and wait till the end of the year to see were we are are with further incentives and rates or just pull the trigger...

Truecar is showing a dealer cost around 40600 with incentives and hold backs and I was really trying to get to 10,000 or less difference...

Thanks guys for any input...

If you are set on trying to get difference under 10K, waiting might be the best bet. You could go back to the dealer and tell them that you want the difference to be roughly $9000 and see if they counter. Sadly, there is not a lot of cars to SH-AWD Adv around to put you in the leverage position, but then again, you are the buyer and they need to sell... just play hard ball with them.

I am getting the normal dealer response... we are all in, no more room to move, blah blah blah...

So here I sit wondering if inventory and economy will possibly promote better deals in a few months... or just pull the trigger on this one which will be built the middle of August with a late August or early September delivery...

Thanks again for the input Stew....

Another option, which would more than make up the difference you are after, is to sell your current car yourself.

When cars are in short supply, it is difficult to get good deals out of them.

If you're not in a hurry, wait out a couple more months til the dealership lots are starting to pack with 2012 cars. Then the dealers will be more willing to budge.

You'll get a better deal towards the end of this yr as supply increases and Acura introduces end of the year incentives

that's a great price. the longer you wait, the more time that passes while you continue to pay for and drive a car you want to get out of. i'd make the deal and enjoy your summer even more.

Just tell them where you want to be, 10k split, leave the deal on the table for them to come to you if they want to sell the car, tell them 10k difference, I'll come down and sign the papers within 24 hours, then just walk out of the dealership.

End of the month/quarter when they need to hit that one more car for the next tier of factory incentives, or if they have a fish on the hook looking for a nice used TL, you might be able to get the deal you want done.

Something to consider. Why would the price of new cars come down but not the trade in value of your existing car? They are not always tied together, but most of the time they are - especially on a relatively late model trade. You may save $1000 on the new one and lose $1000 on your trade.

Blackura_NY - US, Western Pennsyvania to be exact and the dealer is in Virgina... Have purchased from them before on my 2009....

JJsc5 - I realize that it is not a bad price but wondering once stock hits the dealers and they do not move if the deals will get a lot sweetier... In the market but know real urge to buy now... Just want those vented seats so bad... 50 minute commute every day and drawers get a little sweaty on most drives....

If your main thing is the vented seats I'd go check them out first. They're not cooled from I understand but they just suck in air or something. Maybe somebody here who has them can chime in. I really don't think it's worth it if that's your only problem with your car

They are quite nice and do cool your but and back by blowing air to that area. It has quite a cooling affect. I love mine.

Does it actually blow out air? When I test drove one I had them on the highest setting and could not feel any air coming out. From what the salesman told me is that it sucks in the hot air thereby reducing moisture and producing a cooling effect. In a 7 min test drive I didn't feel any noticeable difference in the FL heat. The SA told me it takes about 15 min to begin feeling any difference.

I feel it cool within minutes. I don't know how it does it (suck or blow) but it works and works well. It certainly feels cooler in less than than 15 minutes!! Why an SA would say that is beyond me. It would be worthless if it took that long.

Lol I think he was trying to push me to the more expensive car (the advance was fwd vs the sh-awd I bought)

Trust me. I get it. There is a reason I've owned 58 four wheel vehicles! And my friends know that I won't even consider a new vehicle without ventilated seats.

Get high quality lambskin fitted seat covers for $300. Never get hot or cold and provide comfy cushioning.
10g loss for a minor upgrades doesn't breakdown as sound financial sense. 10g loss for the 5g would make sense to me....if it's all that. On the other hand you're young, you'll help the economy, it's only money....go for it.

Ventilated seats usually draw air in rather then blow out. My BMW and friends Caddy CTS-V all draw air in. Check with a Kleenex and see if it sticks to the seat.

I believe that is right. It sucks air rather than blows it. It does a good job of cooling either way.

42,660 seems to be more than I would be willing to pay. Then again I live in FL and maybe prices are that different and less negotiable in other regions??? This email from the Internet dealer near me - "The 2012 Acura TL with the Advance and SH-AWD has an MSRP price of $45,970, and I can sell one for $43,970." That really means 41,900 or so plus tax.
I would do as suggested above and since you don't seem totally rushed tell them your bottom line and walk away as long as they know how to contact. Odds are they will follow you or call you 23 hours later, especially if near the end of their time periods for sales.
Good luck, it seems to be a great machine!

Well after talking with a vice president at Rahal motors and another GM at Airport of Acura in Cleveland it became pretty clear that the deal of $11,000 difference was to good of a deal to pass up so I signed the papers and provided a deposit yesterday on the new 2012 TL SW-AWD Advance in Mayan Bronze/Umber....

The car is being built on August 8th with an approximate delivery 10-15 days after... I will keep you all posted on delivery and also some pics on arival to my stable...

Needless to say I am done with new purchases of TL's for awhile... but will keep an eye on what the 5G brings along and when...

I have NEVER seen a dealership advertise an out the door price on a car like that. I am guess the $43,970 is before taxes, which is a discount from the MSRP.

I am working on closing a deal and have not decided SH-Tech ($40,693) or FWD - Tech ($37,437). The dealer is offering invoice on both.

Is anyone getting deals below invoice and am I wasting time pushing for much more?

I am also looking to get a few items thrown in such as:

I want to get service covered for two year or 30,000 miles. I did not grab a look at the owners manual when I was in the showroom. Can someone let me know the specific services I would be requesting.

Also, does the Navagation system still use a disk that needs to be updated say in 3-4 years? If so what is the approximate cost.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know whether they're telling the truth about not having any wriggle room on the price, but IMHO the only thing you're going to get with interest rates is higher.

The USA's credit rating is already lower than that of Hong Kong, Guernsey and the Isle of Man (!!), so higher interest rates are unavoidable, about three months out IMHO.

Even if there is a deal worked out by Tuesday, the world (including, unfortunately, the Bank of England) are not going to forgive us for dragging them through this.

Congratulations!

Needless to say I am done with new purchases of TL's for awhile... .
Just out of curiosity, did you say the same thing last year? :-)

I am jealous of the Advance Package on the 2012 TL, but not jealous enough to buy a new car.

I've been wondering where I'd go after owning my 2010 TL 6-6 SH-AWD. I've kind of looked at the 2012 Mercedes CLS 550 4 Matic, and a few other cars.

But, you know what?

Once you factor in the relative amount of technology for the money, and then consider the reliability and satisfaction records, I come away thinking I just need to count my blessings and be happy that I have such a nice car and stop looking around.

I don't know what I'd get next, unless it's the TL replacement in the 2014 model year.

Speaking of which....

An engineer with a couple of drinks in him says that the 2014 MY TL is likely to debut the J Motor replacement, the new V6, and that it could very well sport a 7-speed automatic manufactured for Honda by ZF.

I don't know how much of that is likely to be whiskey bravado, but it sounds interesting!!

Glad to see you pulled the plug. I was just about to write and suggest that you jump on the deal and I see that you did ... CONGRATS!! I think you will love your 2012 and like you, I will axiously await the 5G and see what it brings. I am glad I jumped on the 2012 whn I did because the first spring/summer that the 5G will be out will be at the 3 year mark of my lease and the perfect time to drop my 2012 and jump into the 2014 TL (it will have come out in the fall but I never buy a new car in the fall). We can't wait to see the pics and your impression on the ventilated seats. I passed that option but here in Canada, its not as much an issue and my car is always parked in the garage. When it gets too warm, I just put a few ice cubes in a ziploc bag and put that in the drawers *lol* (JUST KIDDING)

Thanks all, George it is funny I did say that last year and my wife threw it my face just last week like you did...

Well just watched the 2012 TL Advance KBB review again so I could see the color combo I ordered with the new front and rear ends...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsjnGBRoOlw

Well it's birthday is suppose to be on August 8th with a delivery of 10 - 15 days after so we will see if that holds true...

OP,
Not sure why you would trade a perfectly good car in after only 20,000 miles. $11,000 seems like a huge amount of money for a 6speed tranny, vented seats and new bumpers. But moreover, why are you not leasing these vehicles?

Congratulations! I am in the market for 2012 TL SHAWD and I think the Umber interior is awesome. I am considering it with a black exterior. I am still not able to find dealer in the VA area with this combo.
Enjoy!

Is this a good deal?

I got the following offer for a 2012 TL Tech Package, but don't know if it's a good one. In the Los Angeles area.

$518.22, 60 months
Trade-in: 2007 MDX Sport with 82,500 miles ($21,450, as priced at KBB at Good condition, still owes $9,400)
Nothing out of pocket

you need to give a lot more details.. is this the sh-awd version? are you leasing or buying? i'm going to make the assumption that your buying here.. whats the interest rate they're giving you? how much are they giving you for your trade? whats the selling price?

Turn around and walk!
If quote doesn't include taxes and not for 15K miles/yr or more then turn around and RUN!
Isn't it $12k down not 'Nothing out of pocket'
