Tech Package or SH-AWD
#4
There are so many nice upgrades/features that come with the tech package.
shawd is nice in snow and driving hard in corners. If i had to choose I would take the tech over the awd.

Both are important to me.

Between the two- SHAWD.

acura is probably one of the worst when it comes to making you chose what you can and cant have. i actually applaud bmw (and other german brands) that allow you to build and customize the car pretty much how you want. if so i would have gotten a black/umber advanced w/6spd manual..

Walk the walk
From Beach 109 in Sept/11
The current trim level ordering break down allowed per order by Acura is as follows for the TL:
This will have a reasonable correlation to actual sales
FWD
BASE (UA8F2CJW) = 34%
TECH (UA8F5CKW) = 55%
ADVANCE (UA8F7CKW) = 11%
Total FWD = 100%
AWD
BASE (UA9F2CJW) = 9%
TECH MT (UA9E5CKW) = 3%
TECH AT (UA9F5CKW) = 69%
ADVANCE (UA9F7CKXW) = 20%
Total AWD = 100%

I've had BOTH; I now drive a 2012 SH AWD/Tech; if you can afford the extra bucks, go for BOTH.
I've had FWD/Tech; nice, but the SH AWD has bigger tires, nicer wheels, better suspension, brake cooling ducts, bigger engine, more power, etc.
Only minus, is the stiff ride on NYC streets; but the Way better handling, compensates for that.
I'd never buy another non-tech again. Love the Navigation, DVD/Audio., & climate control; decisions, decisions.
Tough choice

to be completely honest.. im sure most of us can go driving daily without sh-awd... do you really use it to its full potential everyday??? for me, push start, keyless entry, sound system, navi, all the goodies that come with the tech package is something i have to have on my daily drive.. now if your one of those people that purchased the car to race or track, then probably yea, sh-awd base would be your choice..

how about like acura? have you seen their asinine decision with the ILX and TSX? if you want 6spd manual you cant have tech... WTF?? thats a more difficult decision IMO than sh-awd or tech... and what if i wanted 6spd manual TL with an advance package? nope, not going to happen.. again, why? oh and you want 6spd manual? sorry but you have to get black interior..

On a production line, the less variation (vehicle trim/option) there is, the faster the product throughput, and the cheaper the production cost. This huge saving in cost all ends up reflected in Acura's much lower product price tags.

Unfortunately, if Acura let us custom order cars like the German luxury brands, expect a 10-week delivery time and a much-increased price tag approaching those of Audi, BMW, and MB.

and dont even get me started on that POS ILX. a brand new acura model comes with 150hp AND A 5 SPD AUTO??? are they kidding me?? i'm just very disappointed with the direction acura is taking and with their complete and utter lack of being with the times.. i'm not even asking them to push the envelope as they once used to; just stay with the times..

I drove the ILX 6 speed. It was a fun car I thought. Far enough removed from a Civic Si to MAYBE justify the price hike (the outside looks WAY better than the current gen Civic, and the interior is nicer than the Civic - sans the cheap plastic center stack). If it was available with the Tech package it would have been a lot more enticing.
I ended up with a 6 speed '12 TL that obviously came with Tech. With all the niceties of the Tech package, I don't think I could live without it now. iPod integration with my phone is awesome... I've never seen integration that nice, even in aftermarket stuff. SH-AWD is awesome, but if I had to choose I think I'd take Tech over SH-AWD. Luckily I was able to get both with the manual (which was a requirement over either), so thanks Acura, for that.

Me living in Washington state which is almost rainy everyday in the whole year, having sh-awd will be much appreciated. However, i'm buying TL for its features and i'm not a racer, therefore tech is better suited my needs.

Let's say, a senior-age driver suddenly cuts in front of your car on the wet highways, or a kid suddenly runs across the wet street right in front of your speeding car, with which lightning reflexes and superior car handling are the only way out.
Even a single occasion of emergency maneuver or accident avoidance, especially on slippery wet roads, is more than enough to justify getting the AWD option for it's superior capability in the wet and snow.

If choosing one it would be the tech package. Wait I did choose tech lol. I'm a regular driver the 280hp is more than enough for me. Plus I live in the south so snow is not an issue

i definitely understand that to a certain degree. however why did they stop allowing us to have a 6spd manual TL with anything but black leather? in 2010 and 2011 they allowed it.. however that to me is not that huge of a deal compared to the tsx and ilx.. i personally love my 6spd manual and the tech package and would not have gotten my car if i could not get that combination.. so why not allow people to do the same with the tsx and ilx? especially considering the tsx was offered with that combination until last yr.. just seems like instead of giving us more choices (or even staying the same) they're giving us less choices..

Both. Over the course of the time you own it, the daily cost difference between either or both is not that much...
But if you had to pick, get Tech. AWD is awesome, it makes the car a hell of a lot of fun to drive, but the tech features make the car - without them it's an Accord with leather seats.

Tech-I love the gadgets!

Hell I thought all awd cars came with tech. I never saw a base in my searches.
The tech is overrated in the 4g. The RL has cool tech with adaptive cruise and cmbs.
I'd pick SHAWD every time between the two and I rarely see bad weather.
