Swapping Steering Wheels

Has anyone replaced their 2012 FWD w/Tech steering wheel for the thicker AWD steering wheel? Just wondering if this can be done. Thanks in advance!

Should easily drop right in, although you will probably have a hard time finding a SHAWD wheel and I can't imagine a new OEM wheel is cheap. The accessory wood grain wheel is almost $400.

I've been considering doing this swap in my 2012 FWD model. I assume nobody out there has done this yet? The part for the swap seems to be about $172usd from most online Acura part websites. Part #5

I had the steering wheel replaced. Bought Part #5 like you referenced for that same price. There isn't much of a difference in the thickness of the steering wheel IMO. The only thing I like is that the steering wheel feels a lot heavier than the FWD. Aesthetically, I miss the perforations on the FWD steering wheel (at approx. 10 oclock and 2 oclock).

Do you have any before or after photos of the swap ? Did you swap the wheel yourself and was it an easy install for the most part?

Used them for the wheel on my 911. Nice work. Have you held one in your hand?

Amazing to me that people will shit talk on the interwebs without any real reference to go from. But then again, it's the interwebs, a place where people who know nothing about what they are writing can Google a reply.

You're one to talk, you sound like a pretty big tough guy yourself...

No I've never held one in my hand, but I visited the poorly constructed website you provided where I was able to view hundreds of photos showing the quality of their products.

Here is their 04-08 TL steering wheel which made my decision not to go with them: http://www.redlinegoods.com/TL0508leatherwheelcover.php

Maybe you think it's awesome but it doesn't compare with OEM if you ask me.

I have to agree, that looks pretty terrible.

Their work looks top notch, thanks for the link. I'll probably end up going with the OEM wheel if I do this but that place certainly looks like they know what they're doing.

I've swapped the steering wheel on my 09 FWD with a SH-AWD. Bought it from someone local selling it on azine.

Held them side by side and the SH-AWD steering wheel is thicker and has slight bump at 3 o clock and 9 o clock for better grip i'm guessing.

Was it worth swapping in your opinion? I'd like a thicker wheel but if it's only marginally thicker I'm not sure it's worth the hassle. Anyone with side by side comparison photos?

OP was in the thread 2 days ago for a reply, besides that was directed towards user "eazy" who has also done the swap and I had quoted when asking that...do you actually read? Or are you just here to contribute nothing?

OP has already answered your question.

Should you decide to do the swap, please post some pics.

The follow-up question you quoted was me looking for comparison photos and nobody has posted any yet. If I do the swap I will definitely post some photos for anyone else who may be interested in doing this swap.
