Staggered Setup.
Staggered Setup.
I know im going to get flamed for this but what the heck, I want the Vossen CV3 on a Staggered sutup. I want 10.5 in rear and 9.0 in the front, What tire size would i need for it to look sinister. I also intend lower the ride as low as i can, I know im going to hear it that i might mess up my trany. Please any imput would be helpful.
This probably isn't going to help you at all since I'm running a non-staggered setup and I'm not lowered, but I have 255/35/20's and my wheel offset is +35. It's about as flush with the fenders as you can get.
Good luck!

I could be wrong though.
My guess would be as long as you maintain the same rolling diameter of your tires from front to back, you should be alright. The question is, how do you maintain that keeping the same series tires with the different widths? There might be a combination that works, I dunno! Anyways, that's why I'm here to learn!
Great question, BTW! Back to lurking...

A good way to do it is how andy did it with his cv3 setup.
Just run the same width tire all the way around.
Get tires that will be slightly small for the 10.5 width and good for the 9 width.
I think hes running 245s, if you look at the picture the rims overhang, so you probably want to run something like a 265.

I sent Fyah TL a message and he told me to use 245 35 in the front and 275 30 in the rear. If I'm not mistaken that's a huge tire in the back, I'm here in acurazine to get my brothers to help me out.

on the vossen wheels that 9" rim in the front run a 245 35 20 tire and in the rear with that 10.5 rim run a 275 30 20 tire. That setup will allow for the nice drop you desire. 275 30 is wide but there's lots of room under the quarter panel to clear that size and allow for a low drop.
Post up some pics after you do it. Should look sweet!!!!!

Unless he de-badged the SH-AWD part which I would question why since thats the only thing to differentiate between a AWD and FWD now

Those tire sizes you are recommending is too tall and way off for a 20x9 front and 20x10.5 rear the OP is looking into running on his sh-awd 4G.
Plus you'll have a hard time finding tire size 235 40 20 as most tire companies don't carry that size.

Would be curious to hear how the staggered set-up affects handling dynamics of SHAWD. With same contact patches front and rear, with 6MT at least you can power oversteer with the all-seasons. With wider in the back, and presumed summer compound to boot, I suspect the car will be harder to put the back-end out under power.
With my prior BMW 335 with sport package (255 in back, 225 in front), it was pretty neutral feeling with my summers. My winter set up was 225 all the way around and could oversteer, even with the open-diff in back.

^ With wider tire in the rear driving straight feel normal but when accelerating around corners the car felt alot more planted/stationary. Also am lowered on Tein SS and have the EDFC to make dampening adjustments.

^^ I am planning on Rolling the fenders also because with these wide ass rims that we are putting they would rub, I'm seeing that mostly everyone is using the 275/30/20'in the rear why not something smaller. One other question is what offstet should I be looking at?
235/35/20 and 265/30/20
Looks cool as f^(# with a staggered set-up.
But it's a total waste of money IMHO.
If you want a big wheels in the rear, get rid of the TL and buy a Vette.

Nope, I got that. this is a FWD platform vehicle, not a RWD. A high hp RWD vehicle typically uses a staggered set-up to plant that hp to the ground. A staggered set-up is only for looks on the TL. Drive line loss puts the total hp on the TL some where between 215-255hp to the ground.
Even on a good day, under extreme hard acceleration, this car will only put down <178hp to the rear wheels.
Ergo, big rear tires are a waste of your hard earned money.
EDiT: Nothing personal. I think some of the best looking 4G TL's in this forum are running on staggered 20's. I'm more about speed and agility.
