Spectra Oil Pan

I need to get a new oil pan. The drain plug threads got stripped so in turn it screwed the oil pan threads.

I found on rockauto.com a Spectra Oil Pan for $66
SPECTRA PREMIUM / COOLING DEPOT Part # HOP20A

Ive bought other parts from rockauto with no issues but I couldn't really find any reviews on Spectra and deciding should I go with it or get one from the dealership.

I called a local Acura dealer and they have theirs selling for $140 and $13 for the pan sealant.

What do you guys think? Would I be ok with Spectra or should I go with the Dealer?

check out acuraoemparts or oemacuraparts.com to see if they have a good in between price. Ultimately, it's just a pan, but having an OEM one for a similar price as aftermarket is always nice Also check the BM, I do recall an oilpan coming up on there but not certain if it fit the 4G!

I forgot about those sites....just checked them out. They go for about $86 and around $100 shipped.

car-part.com, make sure you clean the old one off well and use a fair amount of honda-bond.

I suspect it would be a lot cheaper to install a repair heli-coil. I'm sure there are kits available over the internet. Or you can bring it to a machine shop and they can order and install it for you. Just another option.

^^^This. There are other options as well. I bought a used car one time that had a stripped oil pan bolt. At first I had an expanding oil pan bolt that did the job just fine. Then I bought a rethreading bolt that basically cuts new threads into the drain hole. It torqued down just fine, never leaked and lasted for years.
