Someone backs into License Plate and...

Broke License plate holder. Guy Tried to offer my wife 20 bucks for a new license plate holder. My wife said no, that she wanted me to check first, Guess what, the bumper underneath is creased and has a hole in from the screw being pushed into the bumper. He said he would take care of it, (We have his name address and phone number as well as license plate #). What would you guys guess a new cover goes for painted and installed...I bet 800 bucks.... Lets hope the guy ponies up...or else i will call the police

That helps. It is a 2010 SH-AWD. So around 900. Got a quote to replace the bumper cover on our 2011 WRX and it came to 800 painted and installed. The bumper cover on that is only 200 bucks. Spoke with the guy and he sounds cool. Hopefully he is that cool if it's 900 bucks. He sounds like he does not want to go thru insurance. I will respect his wishes as long as all goes well...

I was surprised not to see a drivers license # or insurance policy # as part of the info he got. I hope you got his real info cause if not it'll get ape shizz on you. GL

Guys info is real. Where my wife was at, people know the guy. Bumper is creased and punctured, so no "buffing out" If he does not pony up, will call police like I said and go thru insurance...

there is no need to get the police involved, call your insurance company, or call his...either way, they cops cant do a whole lot for you in the case of a minor fender bender in a parking lot...

Submitted the quote and pics to guy that back into us. Got a call this morning from Liberty Mutual. Guess he decided to not pay out of pocket! Never dealt with them. Are they a decent insurance company?

how much are you getting and where is the damage?.

please please.

reason why im asking is because when someone tapped my car, the damage is near the license plate area.. but i just purchased the OEM lip kit and the rear lip covered the damage.

I asked this because I am going through the same kind of situation right now. In my case it was my mom driving the car and the other driver completely refused to give me his info, other than his name and phone number. So I had to work it out with my insurance company with his name, phone number and his trucks licence plate number. Also no police report was made either. I am keeping my fingers crossed that hopefully it works out for me.

advice for your mother next time: when getting into accident, no matter how small, always get drivers license, name, insurance, and plate.

4 key elements you need get your case going.

if necessary, call cops. never let the guy refuse to give info, if they do, call the cops without question. if they threaten to leave, tell them its a hit and run and take a picture of the damage parts. tell him hes free to leave but you will call cops and will have them arrested.

hit and run is a felony or misdemeanor depending on case to case.

Its mostly behind the license plate frame. Almost impossible to see with the frame on, but its the principle.

do not repair, its not worth it.

think about it... what if you park at like ralphs or albertsons and a grocery kart scrapes your rear bumper... its going to get scratched again. and that is going to be paid out of your own pocket.

keep the money, wait till it gets much worse, then get it repaired or replaced.

If your not paying, get it replaced. If you are paying get it repaired. A good body shop can fix it and match the paint and you'll never see it.

Liberty Mutual is pretty good - had a couple people hit my last car (Honda Accord), and LM let me take it to my preferred body shop (the one at the dealership). One quick phone call to relay the other person's info, an estimate appointment at the body shop, and then I got a check in the mail (under 2 weeks total).

There is a license plate frame that has like bullets pointing out so if a car backs into yours the car will puncture a square in his bumper.

That driver might not even notice it until he gets home.
Most careless drivers don't realize until they was their cars or get home.
I am getting one of those.
