So it starts...

I wasn't sure to post this in the 4G forum or the regions so mods excuse me if I posted it in the wrong place. So here's a quick story. I always park my car right in front of my house where I can always see it from my living room window. There aren't any parking lots or garages in my area so I'm forced to park in on the street. I also live in a pretty good area of the Bronx. Now I barely use the car since I drive my Integra most of the time anyway. Even though I take it to the car wash once every two weeks. So last night I decided to go to sleep early and as usual look outside to make sure it's okay as it was. So I'm awakened by my family to see that at 4AM. I'm pretty sure they ripped it off just to have at my OEM kit since there's like 5 other TL's around my house. I'm heading to the police station after work to file a police report. If anybody has any info or see's a rear bumper for a CBP laying around please let me know. Thanks.

If I were the op I would be worry that the exhaust and wheels might be next. This is why I park inside. To bad the op have no such option.

As mentioned above I'd be worried that your wheels, and exhaust are next. Since you have another car for commuting it might be worth the money to rent a ground level storage unit in your area that you can park your car in. The added advantage is that your TL won't be exposed to the elements and you won't have to wash her every 2 weeks.
GL with this mess, hopefully your insurance company takes care of you.

BTW: I love your wheels! What type of TSW's are they? Whenever I have money to upgrade the wheels and tires I'll probably look into those!

That sucks.... well if you notice one of the 5 tl's in your hood show up with a rear oem lip you know who it was.

That's one of the downsides of the bumpers being so easy to remove. I remember back in the day people use to steal the headlights out of the 02 03 maxima's because of the HID's and the fact you could literally rip them out of the car without opening the hood or anything.

get those screws that can only be turned with specific screwdrivers and not your normal philips head.. this usually makes it much harder for them to take apart.. but then again.. its only two screws on each side holding the bumper and some tabs.. thank god i dont live in a neighborhood like that..

but my suggestion.. move.. or park your car at someonebodys house.. the rest of your car is next..

PhoenixUnit....I am totally DISGUSTED by such an act of senseless crime and such a coward act. Why can't people be man enough to try that shit in broad day light!! Thats because they are just too chicken, that why! I get so pissed off when I see SCUM BAGS damaging other people's property. I would give anything to catch someone like that in the act, I am not a violent people in general but I would love to catch the M##F** who would do that shit to my car....

All this to say that I feel for you and I wish there was something that we could do on Acurazine to get your rear bumper again. The sad part is that if you replace it, they may try and target you again....you should try and get a security camera pointing at the outside spot where your car is parked...

Sorry this happened to you, I'm I'm the boogie down and I don't leave my car outside after 9:00 pm. I've seen a couple of TL's without rims in my hood so I take no chances, remember car thieves are going to hit the quite neighborhoods.good luck.

Wow, that is terrible. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Sucks you can only park your car on the street, I always park my car in the garage regardless time of the day.

I agree to get cameras to try to catch them next time they come back. Any of the TLs in your neighborhood the same color as yours?

I wouldn't count on some cameras. The thieves could wear mask and park off range of the cameras. Your best bet is a parking garage or storage facility even if it's a bit far.
Another option is an alarm with proximity sensor/tilt sensor.

Ken the cameras aren't for IDing the theives, you'd need very expensive HD cameras for face recognition at 30-40'. They're so you can see the vehicle the thrives come in and the plate number.

Edit: Hilarious story a local guy at an AZ meet told me. He's an electrician who use to work in his personal vehicle and had a decent amount of freedom when traveling to job sites. One day in the early afternoon he feels the urge to use the bathroom so he parks in front of his apartment building, runs up and comes down within 15 minutes. To his surprise the car was already on bricks, in broad daylight. He couldn't believe what had just happened, I asked him if the scenario of how this happened was common and he said "Yes. Pro's only need minutes regardless of wheel locks and doing it during the day only makes what they're doing seem legitimate"... In other words thrives are brazen and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even wear masks.

No matter where you live there are going to be some stupid kids who thinks its funny to vandalize someone else' property.

I live in a pretty safe neighborhood in NJ and my neighbor's car was keyed. This neighbor is actually a cop! Go figure.

Needless to say, my car is always garaged because of the fear of something like this might happen.

Unfortunately some of us don't have the luxury of a parking lot or a garage.

My truck got keyed(like the offender went from the back-to-front, front-to-back, and back-to-front again! 3 f...ing scratches!!) right on the north-bound service lane side of the Grand Concourse, at Kingsbridge Rd.

OP, I really feel your pain! Sh*t's just so ridiculous!

if you dont have the luxury of a parking lot garage... and you live in a neighborhood that has these events going on.. why buy a car like a 4g TL knowning you these such things take place in your neighborhood..

its like trying to wear a rolex in compton.. come on.. be logical.. if you have expensive shit in your house would you live in a neighborhood that has high robbery rates? no right? so the only logical thing to do is either not have expensive things or move to a safer location.

Like I stated the thieves will just park out of cameras range so no tag to capture. I think who ever did it is local to the op and was casing him for a while. They will be watching if they intend to come back for more.
I'm not saying not to install cameras but don't count on that a lone to deter or catch the thieves.

Thank all of you for your sympathy and comments! I had filed a police report and they had told me there had been a spike in my neighborhood recently. Apparently it's two guys in a unmarked van running jobs and stealing stuff from the M3's or anything modified in my area. As for the people asking where this is going on it's around the Pelham bay area near country club road. As for the camera idea I might try that not sure yet. I figured they didn't realize I had an exhaust system under the car but I'm pretty sure they do now, so I decided I'm just going to remove the exhaust and store my rims somewhere in my house. So maybe expect them in the black market soon sadly. I figure it's because as the value of the 4G drops it becomes more available to all kinds of shady people. My boy had a 3G type S and as soon as it became cheaper to buy they stole his aspec kit and his rims twice.

They're the Nurburgrings 20x8.5 in gunmetal. Awesome wheels! They take a beating too. I've hit some bad bumps on the road and they have yet to even bend. Highly recommend them and they just seem to flow well with the car.

Well it was the Mitsubishi PZero that bombed Pearl Harbor... So the EVO in the parking lot was the obvious choice... Still no excuse for vandalism

My Hawaiian friends claim that you'll never see a Mitsubishi driving on the islands.

Dang man. Sorry about that. I always worry some hater might key my car or something. I'm constantly checking. Anyhow, hope your insurance covers this. It's gonna cost you either way but it will be a little cheaper with insurance.

Viper alarm sounds good with motion sensors. Assholes will think twice before creeping towards your ride.

Sorry this happened :/ my last car was broken into before I moved and it taught me a few lessons about leaving visible stuff inside....but none of that mattered nearly as much as that icky feeling I got being inside it afterwards. Like my personal sanctuary had just been completely defiled.

I hope you find the creeps. It's a really distinctive bumper.
