Should I buy a 4G now?
My 2006 TL got side swiped and becuase of the damage was deemed a total loss.
So naturally I'm looking at the 4G TL as a replacement. I'm looking at a 2012+ Elite
So far I've read that the propeller shafts go bad and the 3.7s have oil consumption and piston slap(?) sound issues
would this be a car that would last me for the next 10 years?
If not any other suggestions? 5G TLX?

The inconvenient truth
I'm expecting mine to last the next 10 years. You can always buy a FWD if the potential prop shaft/oil consumption problems scare you. Although the sh-awd is highly recommended. Prices seem pretty good too considering how much car you get.

New member here, I just picked up a 2011 SH-AWD w/ tech yesterday for $9,559 + fees w/ 80k in great condition. I got a steal because my brother works at the dealer and gave me a heads up they are trying to sell off their inventory AT COST to family and friends because with COVID19 they aren't selling anything and each day the car sits on their lots they have to pay taxes on the cars. If you know anyone that works at a dealership it's a great chance to see if you can save a bit of money. The dealership had the car listed at $13,000.

I honestly LOVE my 4G SH. I only burn about a quart/5k miles. Don't have a propeller shaft whining like a couple others seem to have. Highly recommended. Handles like it's on rails and has grip for days when flooring it.

But if you get a FWD model, I can see it will last you 10 years without many troubles.
