SH-AWD Power... realized.

This a--hole in a toyota matrix "S" started tailgating me on the right lane of a blvd yesterday... about to enter a highway onramp. I wasn't sure if he was just being a dick or he was in a big rush to get somewhere but he was really starting to annoy me.

I knew this upcoming onramp by heart... a lonnggg winding 360 deg swoop. He kept tailgating me on our way into the loop... nobody in front of me... an empty onramp... SH-AWD system ready to GO. I gripped my wheels and just let the horses loose on a stampede.

Now I've taken turns and ramps aggressively before but not like this. I think I pushed it to the edge as I heard my tires squealing. You should've seen this kid and his dykemobile absolutely disappear from my rear view mirror. I couldn't tell if he was trying to keep up as I lost sight of him within a few seconds but I'm pretty sure he soiled himself. I never even saw him back on the highway. I'm assuming he put his hazards on, pulled over to the shoulder, got out to kick his toyota and shake his fist into the sunset.

Well that's my story. Happy Monday folks.

anyone can go fast in a straight line! You have the stock tires on? If you think that's impressive wait till next season and get some high performance summers, the squeal will be gone, the grip will increase and you'll have to try frighteningly hard to break loose.

Nice kill. Nothing beats the torque-vectored SH-AWD in going around curves and turns.

However, tire adhesion becomes the limiting factor here.

Get some super sticky extreme performance tires, and you'll be real king of the road.

Ah, the 'ol freeway on ramp. There's no better place to unleash the power of the SH-AWD (except for the track of course).

I have one when I'm leaving work. Most of the time I can't really get on it hard because there's too many cars (probably a good thing because I'd do it everyday), but when I can it's impossible not to smile.

Launch from stand still is also pretty impressive. I've already took on a modded 2010-2012 GTI off a green light and blew him (and his gf) out of the water. I also took on an E92 M3 off a green and kept up with him (tho he had like 5 dudes in his car lol). I've gotten challenged multiple times by 3G TL owners... but they've been on the highway. I would never race on a highway... too fast too dangerous.

I drove a matrix for about 6 years. They're absolutely gutless but that won't stop anyone from driving one like a racecar lol.

And if someone had to call 911 because you crashed your ride or worse yet, managed to injure someone else even though you were alone?

Not impressed taking a Matrix on; maybe a 911....

LOL OP, we are opposites. I slow down to turtle speed when tailgated, and if I'm at a stop sign or a light I take off at an idle for a good 30 seconds. Fuck tailgaters

You ran on a 132HP 1.8 liter car with a 305hp 3.7 liter car & then actually tell people about it like its a big win, Really? Guess I should go out tonight' thump a TL, then write it up as a big kill.

Idk y ppl are coming down hard on this guy, especially Potz and Bear, you guys are some of the more senior and respected members on this site. he wasnt just trying to say he could beat a matrix, he was complimenting the SH-AWD system in the car aswell. the matrix dude was being a prick, and thanks to the SH-AWD system on the car, he showed em whats up with the TL. A lot of ppl who dont know much about car mechanics but like talking about cars, and they dont know what the SH-AWD is capable of, especially those ricers on the road. they think its a boat and that some old lady is driving it. it is a 2 ton car, but it handles itself well.

Back on the gas sweeping right...stay on the throttle up the hill back off with 3 to 400 yards of the hill left crest it at a nice legal 75.... Favorite part is looking in the mirror for mr tail gater...great way to start the day

Relax guys, just a story to instill some empathetic encouragement amongst like minded enthusiasts (or so I thought) of a brand. I don't feel like I'm some speed legend of the road just because I overpowered a 4-cyl car... just like acting as the confrontational contrarian on an internet forum doesn't make you a tough guy in real life. xD

Sorry, but I don't think I was harsh. I just did not find it very informative or worth a thread to post that a 4X4 designed for handling with over twice the horsepower of the other car was faster on the ramp.

Not a big fan of tailgating but I usually keep my temper & ego under control & let them pass. If there is no room for a pass see Enzo's words above.

What gets me is it’s always the Civic, Matrix, Scion, Kia Forte drivers etc that think they have race cars. I guess as soon as a “fart can” goes on it’s their license to drive like a-holes and try to race everything on the road.

It doesn’t matter if I’m driving the TL my wife’s ML or the V one of these idiots is riding my ass. Do these a-holes actually think they are going to stay with me in my V if I don’t want them to.

I usually keep my cool but one day I’m driving the ML and here comes this a-hole driving a POS civic with a hugh ass wing and fart can. He’s in and out of traffic starts riding my ass for no reason and as we approach a red light he cuts off the car next to me so he can be first at the light.

As the light turns green I punch it, I hear his fart can rev and he tries and tries but can’t keep up with my wife’s ML.

Classic, when we get to the next light he’s next to me again but his time he stays back near my quarter and won’t come next to me. I get more enjoyment out of this then F-ing with them in my V.

BTW this is not something I do all the time and I certainly don’t condone driving like this on the street. But sometimes these guys just piss me off enough to get me going.

That's because a fart can is worth about 300whp & nets out the drag from the wing.

All 4 cyl are not created equally. Watch out for the new BMW 4's - sub 5 seconds to 0-60 & 13.4 quarter mile with a JB4/ISO tune.

I respect that powerplant however I don't respect paying the premium they're asking to get a FI 4cyl engine. If I'm paying that kind of money I at least want a 6cyl.
