For Sale-On the Showroom Floor at Jay Wolfe Acura/Kansas City

I was in for an oil change today and this is on the showroom floor-right at the front door.

Notice the RonJon grill !!!! They bought the grill, painted it and it's for sale! It's a fully loaded Tech Package SH-AWD for $47,500. I find it interesting that a dealership would buy the RonJon grill and put it on one of their top of the line new TL's for sale!

Hey Steven!

I was in there on Friday for service on my RL and saw this TL. Very nice car.

I know that Jay Wolfe Acura also sells RJ wheels, or at least I've seen them there.

Wow I'm surprised a dealer around here would install an aftermarket part like that.

I called them about a 6spd awd, but they weren't interested in moving below $40k, even when the $2k rebate was going on.

$47K?!?!?! How much is the grill?

I got my black/black SH-AWD 6MT (with Tech - all 6MT have Tech) for about $6K less than that!

That's gotta be a helluva markup, as even if it has the HPT option (can't see the wheels), at $1000, & it has the body kit (should only be around $1500 installed) that would only put the sticker at around $45,700.

Granted the grill looks nice, but not $2000 nice.

I think those guys are waiting around for some sucker to come by and think it's some "special edition" TL with that unique grill to justify the added cost.

Guys, I'll double check the price tomorrow. I might have not remembered the price correctly. But it does have wheels and the Aspec Kit on it as well.

I thought that it probably must have.

So it has the full body kit, the 19" OEM HPT wheels and tyres, and the RJ-A grille.

I can imagine a much elevated sticker price with the stuff thrown on there than an enthusiast would want to put on anyway.

And just because it's on the sticker doesn't mean it's what you'll be paying, of course. :-)

So basically they've seen https://acurazine.com/forums/album.php?albumid=4987 and his friend BLACKURA_NY, and decided it looked good enough to do it themselves? :-)

It looks like the factory 18's are on it... at least the OEM ones that come with the SH-AWD version of the car. Do you have a side view so we can see for sure?

While I do think the invoice is rather high... you have to look at the target audience for this car. All in for a new RJ grille you're going to be looking at just a little over $1000, about $800 to buy it painted, and probably another $200 (at least) for professional install. I think many people would gladly pay $500 on top of that (or more) to just buy the car with the grille on it.

When I showed my car to a former Partner at a firm I worked for (he also as a 4G) He asked me where and how much. For a guy like him, it's not the cost of it, it's opportunity cost. Every hour he spends on his car (taking it to get this installed, etc) is an hour he's not billing his customers for work. And at $300 an hour for consulting services, you can see where this adds up.

So If you figure the MSRP is ~$42k
+~1500 for the Underbody Spoiler Kit (installed Price)
+~1500 for the RJ Grille (Installed)

That puts it at $45k - If it does indeed have the wheels, then that's another 1k you can add... so their price, while inflated, adds the extra bit of having something that's ready to go, no bolt on needed, just drive off.

My RL is still at the dealer for service. I will take more pictures and check it out more when I go pick my car up.

In the mean time, I have a '10 TL loaner. Love the car! I'm a member of your gang for a few days

Guys, the car is gone!!!.....to the Auto Show. We are having the KC Auto Show this week. It has already been taken off the showroom floor. But, the cool thing is, it will be on display at the Auto Show Wednesday through Sunday. I'll get a sideview show and confirm the price when I go to the Auto Show this week.

Guys, here are more pictures of the SH-AWD 2010 TL. It's on display at the 2010 Kansas City Auto Show, which started tonight.

I was correct-price is $47,500. The base price is $43,000-then wheels, trunk kit, wheel locks, Aspec Kit, etc. bring it up to $47,500.

I'm rolling my eyes at the fact that they took a TL with an aftermarket grille to an auto show.

I'm confused on the wheels? why are they charging extra for them? Those are the base 18" SHAWD wheels.

What did they do to the rear lip? Is that the "midnight chrome" on the back?

The wheels are an upgrade, so there's a charge for different/better wheels.

Actually those 18" OEM wheels come standard on the SH-AWD models so there shouldn't be an upcharge. Anyways, even with the RJ grill and spoiler package, $47K is still way too much. Only an idiot will pay the asking price.

Oh don't get me wrong, that grille is amazing! Just wondering if they had any TL's with the stock grille on or if they were attempting to "hide" those. Not that I have a problem with the stock one either.

Those pics of the rear trim piece almost look like that midnight chrome... From the photos that looks awesome, I might have to check into getting that done, would be nice to have it be darker without color matching.

Does seem a bit on the high side especially since those wheels are included in the price of an SH-AWD model. That means they're still charging about $3000 for the grill and rear trim. And the rear trim piece is only around $75.

Out of curiosity it'd be nice to see the sticker to see how they are breaking down the costs.

I'll look again at the added pricing after the Auto Show. But I know they're charging $1,500 for the RonJon grill.

Dealers make most of their profit from add-ons, accessories and other worthless crap like rustproofing, paint sealant, Scotchguard, etc. It's amazing how bloated the total out-the-door price becomes once you add up all the stuff the dealer tacks on to a car once it comes off the truck. When I took delivery of my 4G, I was able to negotiate the total price of my car to the level that my accessories--body side moldings, splash guards, rubber mats, wheel locks, trunk tray--were basically tossed in for free. (Paying MSRP is ridiculous enough but paying more for accessories is just plain stupid!)

Wow, only $1500... That's really not bad considering it costs $800 painted, then add shipping, then the install cost to the consumer. You would probably only save a couple hundred bucks by doing it yourself after the fact. And you could easily negotiate that price down.

Should have at least put some RJ wheels on there too. Dealers don't car about the markup of the grilel as much as they care about using the grille as a selling tool.

Rondy, it's definitely a great selling tool!!! Plus, it really looks awesome in person. I've never seen any of your products in person (but I'm a HUGE fan). And the grill is excellent. I think it makes the entire car look different.

Steven, Did the rear trim piece look as good as it does in the photos? I really like to idea that it's dark, but not color matched, the part is only $65 from the Bernardi parts site. I also have a CBP.

petec2010, I like the look of your car. Much improved over stock. Stock the 4g looks like shit. Now a car upgraded like yours would be nice. What exterior upgrades do you have.
