Just spoke with the Acura Collision Center and they estimate the damage at $5100.

She typically drives it 2-3 days a week since it's only 10 miles round trip to her office and she parks it in a garage all day. My round trip is 70 miles and it sits outside in the midwest weather. Heck it might be worth it to buy a beater and leave the TL at home during the day.

I was going to say, "I would buff it out and call it good." before I saw the airbag.

That pic is freaking awesome!

Since our friends and family know she's okay, they've been giving her some grief. She's been a good sport about it, so I'm going to show her this pic tonight.

Her step dad taught her and he is a freaking awful driver!

My wife can, and she would have wrecked long ago racing it around the city.

I just worry that little things will start to go wrong down the road due to the accident and by then the car would be out of warranty. Right now it's covered bumper to bumper for 100k by the dealership and I spoke with them on Saturday and they confirmed that the warranty would be valid to whomever I sold the car to....I figured that would be peace of mind for a new buyer.

I don't have any experience in the long term effects of an accident on a newer vehicle.
I think it'll be just fine. As long as the car is being repaired at a reputable shop (not some guy that does side-jobs at his house) there should be zero post-repair issues. Auto body repair procedures, equipment, and quality have come a LONG way. It's all in your head, partly because some people here on the boards put it there. My advice, get the car fixed and enjoy it as you always have.

That's not bad at all considering the car is still very new. A good chunk of that is probably the airbag itself. Probably a new driver side seatbelt assembly too. Like I said, minimal damage.

Thanks for the advice

I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do yet, but I'll start with getting it appraised by the dealership to gauge approximately how much value I've lost. It's currently covered bumper to bumper for 100k miles so I imagine that I could find a buyer that is willing to purchase the car due to the minimal risk. I don't keep cars very long and my original plan was to trade it in on the 5g if I liked what I saw. Considering driving a beater around for a year or so until the 5g comes out, or possibly giving the TL to my wife and trading in her TSX for the 5g when the time comes.

Our TL is my wife's DD. She has been driving 30 years and has never been involved in an accident and has never had a ticket. On the other hand, I have an eight month old BMW 550 and she has not driven it yet

Repairs are done and I picked the car up yesterday. Final bill was $5411.

It drives like new and I'm still confused about whether to trade it in or not. I'm leaning towards waiting until the 5g comes out and trade it in then. Option 2 is to give it to the wife and let her wreck it as many times as she wants.

As long as the paint match relatively well and there is no frame damage, I would keep the car.

If the paint didn't match I wouldn't have accepted the car until they got it right.

Keep it until the 5G comes out. If the 5G is , trade it in for something else.

She was on Nall headed south between College and 119th St. Rush hour traffic and the Sprint crowd leaving combine with her driving too fast wasn't a good combination.

I know exactly the location. I am glad everything is ok. Which dealership did you buy yours at? I got mine at Hendricks. For some reason they had very low stock at the Acura dealership in 103rd. I work on Ward Parkway, live in Lees Summit.

I purchased both my TL and my TSX from Jay Wolfe and they have always treated me very well. I've heard good things about Hendricks and I may give them a chance at my business in the future if Jay Wolfe slips up.

DD,

Well some a-hole dinged my rear quarter panel this week at work. Why are there shitty peeps in this world? Where did you take your TL to get fixed? I want a reputable person to fix it for me...

If you are in Olathe - I'd recommend BF Bodyworks, not the cheapest in town but I totally trust the guys there, Brian and Floyd are the owners. Check them out online. You can view the status of your repair online - they take and post pictures In fact mine is currently on there

The Acura Collision Center is down in KCK and is the one that Jay Wolfe and Hendrick Acura both recommended to me. You can get the address by calling either of the dealerships, or I can try to dig it up for you.

They got the paint match perfect, which I would expect from an Acura recommended shop.

Sorry to hear about your ride!!
