"Replace Battery" warning light

So my car is 3 months old, 2012 TL SH-AWD, 6,000km on The car. It sat for about 2 days, without being started. Finally when i went to start it, i had the Battery light come on, "Replace Battery" came on the MID. It only lasted for about 20 sec, then the warning disapeared, and hasn't come on since.

I remember someone else posted something about this issue a while back, but searched and couldn't find the thread.

Is there any cause for concern? Could it be my battery is weak? I'm doing a 10 hr drive next week from Toronto to New York City, and i want to make sure everything is in order. Any insight could help.

Thanks.

the battery is under warranty-have the dealer test it. If no problems that 10 hour drive will be a benefit for charging it.

Got the same warning this morning. Took my car in to have it looked at since this is about the third time I have received the warning. Tech says that the TL has an overzealous sensor much like that on the MDX's and ZDX's. Acura has a software fix to address the MDX and ZDX issue but not for the TL. Tech suspects that a fix will be forth coming since the issue is now apparent on the TL as well.

I notice it in my test drive of the 2012 TL as well. Hopefully I won't see it when I take delivery of my car.

I wouldn't worry about it.. until the car doesn't turn over easily.

Acura2010, you may want to check out this thread that was started by me as I had the same problem in Calgary:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...hlight=ostrich

I never had any issue like this with my 2010 TL, but with my 2012 TL, I have had this a few times already. It must be the new battery management system in the 2012 TL....

Thanks, it was your post that i was referencing when i posted this thread. I knew i read it somewhere. What ended up happening to your situation? Did the dealer put in a new battery?

Coming to think of it, i think i may know what caused this issue, and it's probably my fault. I'm a smoker, and always leave my smokes in the car. Never smoke in the car, just leave them in the door. So when the car was parked for a few days, i kept going into my garage and opening the door to get my smokes, which would turn on the headlights everytime. Now over a two day period, of periodic on and off headlights, it's possible it may have drained a little life out of the battery. Those HID's take alot of power. Make sense???

Hey Acura2010, I don't think that the fact that you kept opening and closing the door should drain the battery like that!!!

I really think that it's that new "battery management system" that is too sensitive.

I called the dealership and they told me that "30%" of the TL's do that. To me, that is just non-sense. Anyway, I just ignored it because I knew that even if I took it in, they would just give me some ridiculous reason. So far, there really has been no problem again, so I just left it alone....

Now, it would be very interesting if we could do a poll to see what % of the 2012 TL owners have this problem. How do I start a poll???

My 2012 has the battery light issue as well - if I don't drive it for a few days, or I leave the stereo running in the driveway while I clean/wash/dust/obsess, the light comes on the next time I start it. It always goes away after a drive long enough to charge the battery back up.

It clearly seems to be a software issue. My Dealer will let me know if and when a fix is released. As soon as I know, I will share that information here.
