Remote Start Price
It's very likely that I'm trading in my TLX for a 2012 TL AWD Tech and I'd like to have remote start on the new (to me) car. I'd like to negotiate the OEM remote start (they can still do installs on 4G TLs right?) into the deal and save some money. Do any of you guys know dealer cost for this? I don't want to make an unrealistic offer for the remote start, but I also don't want to pay too much for it. Thanks!

be aware on how the remote starter works.. its different than what your traditional viper remote start functions..
you are better off going for aftermarket than OEM imo..

Yes I've read how it's a separate fob and the car shuts off when you open the door. If this were after I had purchased my car I'd go aftermarket, but I want to negotiate this into the purchase price of the car, plus I like the OEM RS fob more than the viper remotes.

They threw in a Remote Starter when the 2 Acura dealers were fighting over out business. Also just about any other add one. Ya having a extra oversized remote is not exactly awesome, however leaving for work in the morning is the only time I really use it. Damn the range on the remote starter is like 3 blocks. Ya since I fall into the 0.00001pct population having 2 car stolen in my lifetime the shutting off when you open the door is no big deal.

if you are handy.. the OEM remote starter is not hard to install.. just saying.. but dealerships will rip you completely off like they always do for installs or any work.

About two months ago, I was quoted 1k from a dealership in Peoria, AZ.
I was told that it was a lot of work, and there wasn't really any way to cut the price. I'd like to have the remote start, but at 1k, I think I'll pass.

The actual kit itself is ~$400
08E91-TK4-200A | Acura Remote Engine Starter (TL, TSX, ZDX) - Bernardi Parts
08E92-TK4-XXX | Acura Remote Engine Starter Attachment (TL) - Bernardi Parts
I imagine it's a few hours of labor on top of that.

I bought the kit online and install it myself in under 2 hrs. I followed the step-by-step instructions I also found online. It wasn't hard at all, just be careful and take your time. The only labor I paid was $130 to the stealership for programming the remote, I tried to get it done at a Honda dealer but they said Acura system is a little different (BS). I waited for 30 min and the job was done. I use it mostly in the winter to warm up the engine and cabin, on hot days I prefer opening all windows with the key fob.
