Remote Start options?

Hey Guys,

My 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD is coming home today! Thinking since im in the new england area, im considering a remote starter. Folks who have them for push start cars, do you go OEM or aftermarket? This will be my first having a push start car so just trying to get a better idea of what I should get.

Thanks in advance guys!

You should be fine with a basic one button remote start system from Viper that’s what I have on my 2013 TL with Tech Package. Also once you open the doors on this car the system automatically shuts off and you’ll have to restart the car.

OEM has very limited range; it's good for about 20-30 feet, but after that, typically nothing. Aftermarket will almost always be better for range. The OEM does have the benefit of turning on defrost (front and rear) and, for security reasons, does not turn on the car lights (this can be good and bad). I'm sure that some aftermarket units can be programmed to trigger defrost, but I can't name them or be certain.

Either way, it will mean a separate, stand-alone fob. The OEM does not replace the regular fob.

My OEM can do considerably longer distance than 20-30. It is closer 200 to 400feet. Trying to count the parking spots 10 parking spot, 12 garage doors (standard size that can fit 2 cars in apt building) and 7 more parking spots, inside a garage. I guess my OEM remote has the upgraded satellite package.
