Rear brakes time

Akebono pads and Centric rotors.
question is: are the coated rotors necessary or can I get uncoated and be OK? NO longer live in northeast which had rain/snow, salt on roads. Now in las vegas - dry and hot as hell (though I get alot of car washes due to desert dust).
thanks!!!!

I go with uncoated rotors even though I live in the midwest. Coated rotors really only became a thing like 10 years ago. My understanding is that rusty rotors are still operational- it's just a cosmetic thing.

coated is good for the parts that don't make contact with the pads such as the rotor hat and vane-side/outer edge of the rotor.
