Re-program to stop the seat from moving automatically?

2010 TL SH-AWD:

OK, I love my seats, but I also like to move the drivers seat back a few inches to help me exit the car (get my butt past the side bolster)... Whenever I get back in the seat is already moving back to the preset position.

Can this be programmed out by the dealer or am I stuck with it? If there were a third seat preset switch I could use that for my driving settings and the other for my exit settings, but my wife is using the other one.....

Does this bug anyone else as much as it bugs me?

Thanks.

Yes it bugs me. I was unaware at first but after getting in and out a few times, I noticed it and I was wondering what was going on as I just laid the seat back because I had a clip in my hair that day and didn't want my neck to be so far forward. It would be nice if it activated once seated in the car. I have just been programming and reprogramming LOL! I don't know of anything that can turn it off.

If your wife were NOT using the other setting, you could set your preferred position as #2 and the seat moved back position as #1 (linked to your fob). That way the seat would move back for easy entry automatically and then you just touch #2 on the door to move to your driving position.

Thanks. I will try that since it is just me.

this is exactly what I do. I use key #1, but set the seat position for #1 to be WAY back... then when I iopen the door the seat is already fully back..and getting into it is easier and I don't scuff all over the side bolters... you hit #2 when you sit down, and by the time you are ready to pull away, the seat gos to where you want it. just make #2 seat position where you really want the seat to be when you drive.

when I get out of the car, I usually press #1 and the seat slides back right before I get out.. then when I come back to the car, the seat is already moved backward.

FYI - the car won't let the seat move to an auto position unless the gear selector is in Park.... so if you get in, and hit #2, and the seat starts moving to where you want it, and you shift OUT of park too fast, it will stop.... so I usually make a piont to sit down, hit #2 as the first thing I do, THEN I start the car, put on my seatbelt...and then you just go... by the time you are ready to go the seat is done moving.

Yeah, but there are a couple of major issues with this approach:

1: We have been married 31 years and are still in love with each other.

2: It's HER car.

So ... I called my local dealer's service manager, and he told me that short of disconnecting the seat computer (disabling all memory functions), he can't stop this from happening through a simple reprogramming. I told him that a number of owners complain about this and he should pass it on to the area tech rep. What I would LOVE to see would be a stand alone button near the inside door handle that stores your "Get in/ Get Out" settings. One single tap, and the seat would run back and recline slightly, so you can get around that pesky side bolster.

Maybe the 2015 model will have this feature.....
