Okay is Rain-X All Season Windshield Washer Fluid bad for the car? When the Rain-X is sitting in the reservoir is it going to mess with the sensor and give off a code saying the reservoir is empty when it is really full. Then you add some and it still says empty. I heard Rain-X has some kind of silicone coating or ingredients that messes with the sensor? Yes or No its a 2013 Acura TL .

 

I think you are overthinking it.

 

Go on line check it out I was all set to buy it til I checked reviews. I don't know if people were buying it in the yellow spray bottle you know the yellow bottle and and adding it to the blue washer fluid or ?

 

No problem with Rain-X after using 8 jugs in last 2 years. Rain-X has been around for years and if this was a problem, it would have been surfaced and addressed by now.

 

On my 2008 Audi S4 when I used RainX windshield washer fluid for the first time it destroyed the low fluid sensor; $250 to open up the fender and get at it to replace or live with the low fluid warning forever. I avoid that cr*p like the plague...

Your mileage may vary of course....

 

Been using it for a few years from walmart with no troubles. Make sure you get the one that's right for your climate (if it gets below freezing get the stuff rated for below 32F!)

 

I always get the Winter Fluid even in the summer time. That way I don't need to worry about it freezing. I have been using Rain-X fluid for years without issue.

 

Probably just your sensor is bad.

 

I don't bother with Rain-X. Just use the cheapo Walmart stuff

I've used rainx fluid in my TL for over 8 years for summer fluid.
Winter fluid, i use whatever's cheap.

No issues.

RainX for windshield repellent is a must on all my cars. It makes a huge difference in rain or snow.

 

I have been using the orange RAIN X wiper fluid for years with no ill effects. During the winter that stuff will defrost a windshield in about 2 seconds, it's absurd. I wouldn't be surprised if it melted a fluid sensor!

In all seriousness, my 2012 TL doesn't have a low wiper fluid sensor, but I drive a 2015 Ford Transit to commute and that one does have a sensor. No damage yet after 4-5 bottles through. Not sure why they even put a wiper fluid sensor in the first place. I find it to be super annoying.

 

I have been using it since 1980, I obviously do it the old fashioned way and apply manually and usually get at least 3 months of effective use, and I put on all the windows. Years ago I put it on one of the kids cars and they said wow it was amazing didn't even need wipers in a light rain. Huge fan of it.
