question on interior illumination

New owner of 2009 TL with tech. package. Notice that at night, none of the buttons below the radio LCD light-up. Are they supposed to? This would include volume control knob, presets, map, info, and menu etc. Nothing at all beloe radio display. Can't see skip control, etc. Center console is pretty much totally dark. Does radio not have internal illumination below display including side buttons on either side of interface knob and interface select. Manual says nothing and I have service manuals now an they say little. Thx in advance Bill

I recall that ALL the buttons that have white lettering light up, including the ones on the door panels (front). I would need to double check if the window buttons in the back light up at night. Make sure to turn up the lights as well. There is a up/down button on the left of steering wheel on the console that controls the brightness.

I
did not pay attention to buttons on steering wheel, but will check. I DO have briteness all the way up. To clarify, I am talking all buttond from volume control and down. To include skip, scan, Maps, info, menu, interface dial, and all side button such as temp control (auto), fan on/off, sync, fan speed higher/lower and other side passenger "auto", mode, defrost, re-circ, and ac. Everything in center section below LCD radio display. Noted too that transmission indicator at shifter does not light whether in park, neutral drive, etc. I am going to guess this is not right, but can't figure what all these would have in common?? TL has such a nicely lite display at night such as speedo, tach, temp., fuel, and MID...but that center section below radio is a dark abyss.

I am pretty sure that all white lettering will light up at night even on the steering wheel. When I rented a Hyundai awhile back ago, I noticed that entry level cars don't have button lumination on the doors. I will need to check tonight to confirm.

I drove last night. Anything that has white lettering is lit up. The rear mirror buttons and steering wheel buttons also light up. I am driving a TECH version with Navigation in it but I am sure that the base/mid level versions should light up too.

ank you for your courtesy in checking and replying. I too have the tech package and did a little more "tinkering" and all now light-up!
Much better. Kind regards, Bill
