Power source

Anyone know where i can get a power source where i can wire up independent fog lights?

im planning to just disconnect my stock fog light plugs and use new ones wiring up the fog lights into a switch with a 12v power source.

i will be using a relay into a switch so i can have it running at all times..

maybe someone with a diagram of the fuse box can help?

Have you ever thought about connecting your fog lights to your DRL wire?

I have installed aftermarket lights in some of my previous vehicles but not in my TL. I always just ran 12V power directly from the battery and then used a relay to a switched ignition source so that the lights will turn off when you shut off the ignition. Then you don't have to worrry about having enough juice for the lights or overloading any circuit.

I know that most HID relay kits take their power directly from the battery since that where the most power is available, and If you hook it up to a switch you can control when its on or off.

if youre looking for a 12v source to trigger the relay you can use the windshield wiper fuse since that only has power when the car is in "on" mode (2nd click) or started. hope this helps.

and where would i wire up this ignition so that it turns on with my car?

is there a slot in the fuse box where i can just tap so that my fogs turn on when the car is on independently..

There should be an abbreviated diagram on the underside of the fuse box cover or in the owner's manual (I can't confirm this since my TL is in the shop). Otherwise, here are a couple snapshots from the service manual. My guess is you should hook up the switch portion of your relay to either fuse #3, 4, 20, 23, or 24 since I think these only power on when the ignition and/or ACC is on.

Good luck with the install
