Potential next car after your 4G TL??

Personally I think I'm at least 5-6 years away from even beginning to consider a replacement but I can start dreaming now can I??

Honestly the incoming M5, if the xDrive version (with sport differential) especially with available manual transmission is confirmed, it will definitely will be a car to drool after....it would have everything I want, a turbocharged powerful engine, Torque Vectoring AWD, etc...

The only thing that scares me is the long term reliability, maybe an extended warranty could at least hedge my bet.

Unless a dramatic change in lifestyle (up or down...you never know these days!!), I will stick to a sport sedan which for me is the best compromise between practicality, every day use and sportiness.

AWD is a must (also because of where I live) and I think I cannot move away from Torque Vectoring anymore, is too intoxicating....

I'm afraid the TL could be my last manual transmission car...I do not see the classic stickshift surviving for long, hopefully I'm wrong......I think I could settle for a dual clutch transmission that does not impose too many limitations (for example taking over with upshift or downshift if the engine revs are beyond certain boundaries) slushboxes remain a definitive no-no for me.

Incredibly enough, even if money would not be an issue, currently I see only 2 cars which I would get over my manual TL SH-AWD for my current needs and wants... the already mentioned upcoming M5 (if the xDrive version is confirmed) and the Porsche Panamera 4S or Turbo and Turbo S....I find the Porsche definitely on the ugly side (and obscenely overpriced compared to an M5) but the mechanics are specs perfect for what I want....hopefully more choices will be around soon....

Yes yes I know there is the much cheaper manual Audi S4 around....sorry too small for my needs and in its current form not much of an upgrade compared to my TL....I want a midsize sedan and a significant step up in power compared to my Acura.......oh I forgot the upcoming Audi S7, it could hit the sweet spot (about 400 HP, sport differential and Torque Vectoring available and a dual clutch transmission)

Unless new models come around (TV AWD available, turbo, dual clutch or manual), the TL could be my last Asian car.....

What about you guys?? Any ideas or plans for your TL replacement??

Something that doesn't require bi-weekly trips to the gasoline station for the most expensive fuel they have. Fast but with a big thick extension cord for refills. Like a Fisker Karma (Sport), or something equally fun and speedy.

That is one hell of a nice looking car! Now I have to look up information about that car. Even though I'm sure it is way out of my price range, I have to look.

Porsche GT3. Seriously. I just need my company to get acquired and we'll be in business.

I'm totally happy keeping my car for as long as i can, it's paid off and I love not having car payments. I've had it for almost 2 years and only have 15k miles on it, so it's going to be around for a while.

But I totally want to get a fun summer car, thinking a used 2007 or 2010 GT3.

Karmas are $90k+. You could try something like the Tesla S.

http://www.teslamotors.com/models/specs

I want to go with an electric car, but their range (or lack thereof) kills it for me.

I drive way too many miles a year to get a real sports car

if i was smart-- i'd ditch the TL, get the cheapest hyundai they make, and a weekend warrior (E93 M3, IS-F or C63)...

I would most likely buy a white Kia optima turbo. I would also buy a S2000 as the weekend warrior

Likely another mid size sedan with 6MT and TV AWD, if it's around. Chances are that will be the next generation TL just based on the fact that no one else offers it right now (on a mid) and hopefully it keeps going in it's current direction and has more of the RL's interior and features.

The M5 would be silly if it gets torque vectoring to go with the xDrive and I know it will be available in that electric blue color (Le Mans?) but that will probably be in the $90k range which might be too steep for my blood. Maybe if the next S6 offers a 6MT, that shouldn't cost as much if they leave room for an RS6. I would consider that.

Otherwise a sporty SUV, maybe the next gen MDX, if the combo TV AWD + 6MT combo is no longer around or gets a little too "exclusive".

I just got it .... it will be interesting to see what happens with the auto industry.

We'll see how the next few years with the TL goes, I'd like to keep it 4-5 years, depending what's on the market at the time, I might just keep it and augment with something fun and RWD.

If Ford would ditch the Chinese getrag trans for a nice Tremec in the GT stang, and is supposedly going to have an IRS for the 2013 MMC, I, a lifelong Honda guy, would give serious thought into picking up a GT mustang for the weekend playtoy in a heartbeat.

Once the trans can hold it, you're going to see these things putting 600 to the tires with cams, a supercharger, exhaust and a tune.

I think a lot of the faithful are going to be a a crossroads on the next family vehicle purchase having a Honda badge on it or not. They've lost their way IMO.

Next car/cars in our future are probably going to be a Nissan Maxima and/or a Toyota 4Runner.
And this will all depend on how this economy goes and if we still have jobs.

"My next car" thoughts are too far away since I just bought the '12... who knows what is going to be around in '15-'16 or beyond... might be time to step back a little and spend money more wisely... .ah, probably not!

I've always loved the E60 M5 with its NA V10 so a used one, preferably 08+.

If not, I may keep the TL for a long time and get a used Viper. This would be a 2002 GTS since that has ABS or an 08+ with 600hp. Either way a V10 lol Obviously this will take some time...

Heck I'm not tired of the 4G yet. But based on past history likely another TL as this one is my third in 10 years.

That is brilliant! I had never thought of getting a reliable transportation-only-vehicle AND a not so new thrill mobile. Uh oh...look out wife, Marco has car fever.

2003 E46 M3 Sport $23,999 >60k

Still one of my favorites after all these years. If I could find a good condition one in Laguna Seca blue, I'd be all over it.

As I look at the real time gas mileage display as I drive, it seems to be pushing me towards a 2016 model year Prius or something similar...maybe they'll have an AWD version by then...

Yep, all depends on gas prices in 4-5 years... assuming the trend they're on, I'll be getting something easier on the wallet gas-wise. Also, assuming it won't be as fun to drive, I'm going to enjoy tossing my current TL around as much as possible till then!

That's a good question. I am ready to ditch my TL now and get a G37 coupe I have also looked at the m35x & m37x also 6 series & 5 series bmw. But honestly i honestly have no clue. I will be keeping an eye on what companies will be doing over the next couple of years.

I would love to stay in an acura but i really need to see what they are going to do to keep up with some of the other car companies. I am now convinced that a good portion of the reason some of us are still purchasing acura's are because of the pricing. That's just my OPINION though.

So with that said i have been eyeing INFINITI & BMW.
