Planning Timing Belt replacement
Hello all, I am about to start ordering parts for replacing my timing belt. My plan is to replace the water pump, belt, and tensioner with the Gates kit from Rock auto, along with a Gates serpentine accessory drive belt. While doing the job I am also thinking of new NGK ruthenium spark plugs, sealing things back up with Felpro valve cover and upper intake gasket sets. I will order a special heavy wall impact socket for the harmonic balancer.
I have done some searches on the subject and read about concerns of counterfeit kits on eBay/amazon as well as having read about some concerns about some brands of belts causing unusual engine noises.
My questions are,
Are there any jobs to add to the list while I am that deep into the car?
Has anyone had any problems related to the mentioned brands on their 3.7 motors?
2010 tl, awd, 3.7, 6mt, 65 k miles
Thank you,
Jo

I wouldn't feel great using an aftermarket timing kit or gaskets. But other people can chime in if they have positive experience.
Assuming you're doing this service because you're planning on renewing the car's life and keeping it for a while....I would recommend using genuine Acura parts.
Especially for the tensioner, water pump, and gaskets. You might be able to get away with an aftermarket timing belt...but...its a little risky.
Whenever I do timing jobs, I do:
Use a discount online site like curryacuraparts or bernardiparts or acuraoemparts etc
For the external accessory belt and components...yeah...going aftermarket is probably fine. Only a relatively small risk there.

Whenever I do timing jobs, I do:
- Belt
- tensioner(s)
- pulleys
- water pump
- front main/cam seals **ONLY do the front main seal if you're 200% confident in your ability to do it.
- valve cover gaskets/grommets
