Pewter "Sports" Grille Accessory ?
Has anybody noticed or purchased the Sports Grille [sic] that is beginning to show up in some dealer accessory catalogues?
The package seems to consist of two items purchased separately, a darker, pewter coloured front grille that is shaped exactly as the OEM grille, together with a pewter coloured accent piece that replaces the chrome accent piece at the bottom of the trunk lid in the back.
I'm thinking there's a possibility this might look good on my PM car, but I can't find any pictures anywhere of the items installed on a car.

I didn't specifically look for the sports grill at the dealer when I bought my TL; I just noticed it's not online anymore. When I stopped by the dealership last week, my sales guy didn't know anything about the rumored "Acura grill kit."
I personally don't mind the OEM grill that much b/c I specifically chose the PM color to try to tone down the chrome. Not that I wouldn't mind seeing if there are any alternatives

Below are some possibilities I can think of. If anyone has any pics or photoshops to post of possible Palladium Metallic variants, it would be helpful, since most of the grill mods I've seen on AZ are TLs that are black, white, or dark grey:
1) Ron Jon Grille
2) Full nose bra/mask
3) Paint the strip of the OEM's chrome that comes up on the hood to match the PM color
4) Sports Grill
5) Do nothing

Hi all. Been lurking for a while and this is the best source of Acura info (and rumor) I've found. I am planning to buy a 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD (about 90% sure at this point) within the next month and check here regularly for news.
Re: the "sport grille", it appears to be an aftermarket dealer accessory, although dealers do not seem to know much about it. This is funny to me, as it is a listed factory aftermarket and can be purchased on Ebay as well. Also, I followed the Acura TL site as it transitioned from 2009 to 2010 and the Sport Grille and rear trim was originally listed as a dealer accessory. Under the 2010 preview site you could in fact include it under "build your TL" and see what it looked like. However, when the TL site went to 2010 only, that option was curiously removed. Dealers I have spoken to have told me that they have painted the grille, but had never seen the Midnight Chrome grille.
I am very interested in this option as I have less a problem with the grille itself than with the fact that it's chrome. Not really a fan of lots of chrome. However, the last generation TL was utterly boring to me and FWD only, so I never considered it. I like the new one if only because it's different and a departure from the usual Honda conservatism. Plus the interior is dynamite.

I noticed it's gone on acura.com as an option when building a new TL, however at the acura e-store, it's available as an accessory and I've found dealerships on ebay selling it. I was thinking of getting it, but I decided that if I mod my car, I'm starting with engine mods and not wasting my time with cosmetic stuff at this point

I've been thinking about this as well. But would like to see it in person or a better pic than on the store.
Although the pics on the store look like they may be on a Palladium Metallic model and it looks good. Hopefully someone out there will be able to provide better pics.![Wish](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wish.gif)

So who's going to photoshop it onto a Palladium car?

Long time lurker, rare poster...
What do you guys think of the midnight grille and trim on a Grigio Metallic TL? I'm thinking it will look pretty sick. Otherwise, I am going to get the middle piece of the stock grille color matched to the vehicle, which I think looks pretty sweet as well.
The guy on ebay has them for 25% off right now, that makes it a lot more reasonable. Sounds like it will be about $200 to get it put on at the dealer (you have to (read: should) take the bumpers off), even if you don't get them from your Acura dealer. So, it's looking like a $500 ordeal all told.
Thoughts?

I'll help all you guys before you go spending money on a "gimmick" product.
Get a bottle of Niteshades NHT, stuff that people use to tint their headlights. Get a couple of rolls of painters tape and drop cloths. Spray a light coating on it and let it cure. You have your midnight grille.

I contacted the e-bay seller yesterday...
I asked him if he really had these in stock, because none of the other Acura Parts websites had shown them in stock yet, and they are no longer shown on the Acura website as an available accessory.
The seller told me that he does NOT have these in stock. He said that he posted the auction in anticipation of the release date, which Acura keeps pushing back. He told me that the latest release date that he has from Acura is December 14, but, if Acura holds true to form, this date will be pushed back again.
Just an FYI, in case anyone was actually planning on ordering the grille or the trunk trim.

IMO, the Pewter grill does nothing to enhance the look of the 4G. It's a slightly darker beak but still a beak nonetheless. I know I'm biased when I say this, but if you really want to improve the front end, you gotta go with something like the RJ grill.

No disrespect to anyone but I am not feeling the RJ grill makes the 4th generation look like the 3rd and it flatens the nose.

We were told at our last national meeting that there were quality issues with the finish on this accessory grill. That is why the delay. We were first shown the grill back in the spring and were expecting it by September. Kind of in limbo right now and no hard dates on when to expect it yet.

I agree. if you don't like the current grill you probably won't like this either. Not sure who this is trying to satisfy?

I was obviously thinking about it, but the more I live with the TL, the more I like it just the way it is, totally OEM w/just the front spoiler and splash guards.
The car's looks have become a sore spot, something for naysayers and competing manufacturers to bitch about.
So I'm totally prepared to carry the Keen Edge Dynamic, In-Your-Face banner straight up to the walled cities of Lexus and Infiniti.
:-p
So there.

I had ordered the rear trim piece a couple weeks ago. I got a call from the dealer to say that Acura has again delayed release of these until January 31st 2010. I canceled the order & might revisit again if/when it becomes available.
They must really be having issues with this product...

Just picked up my 2010 TL SH-AWD Tech in Grigio/Black tonight. Asked the GM at my dealership what the deal was with the sport grille. He told me they don't expect to see it for 13 months at the earliest. So it's looking like a MMC to me, assuming that's the case. Just an FYI.
