People with WDP painted grills

Does the color of the grill match the rest of your paint? I know it won't match exactly but I got mine done today and it doesn't seem to match very well. It does in some instances depending on where you're looking at it from. I will take some pics later on and post them.

not sure how to post pics...

If you click in the box under the picture in Photobucket that says IMG, it will automatically copy the link, then just click back in the open reply box (there are several)here and paste the link here, then the picture will display here.

Looks good painted white!

thanks for doing that stew. I added the pic of the rear strip as well. The pics look alright, in person it seems as though the paint doesn't quite match.....maybe it's just me. I'll get more opinion from those that see it haha....thanks again

paint seems slightly off if u stare at it for a few seconds, doubt it would be noticeable with a quick glance

Yes it is whiter than WPD. That color would go with Bellanova but not the more ivory WPD.

Yeah I'm pretty disappointed. I think I'll bring it back and have it redone.

The idea is great.. I really like the matching color. I might buy me a replacement grille for mine and have it painted to see how it looks. You have inspired me to test things.

haha glad I could help stew! I think it looks much better myself....once I get used to the little bit that the color is off. Then again, galloping horses wouldn't notice it.

Blackened headlights will really set off the white front of your car.. IMO.

Yeah that would be a nice change as well. I think it's $150 to get it done by the guy on the site here. All depends on what the turn around it so I'm not without them for any length of time.

The color is completely off, seems like there is no pearl in it. Whites with pearls are tricky but that doesn't even look right.

IMO, white looks better with stock grilles, but take it back, tell them to pull your vin number to get the correct paint code. There are 4-5 variants of WDP

I'm bringing my car back in a week to have the grill and fogs redone. The paint seems to match the sheet metal but not the bumper. I have a feeling he's going to ask if I want it to match the sheet metal or the bumper colour....any suggestions on what I should tell him to do so I don't have this issue a second time?

tell him to go get paint from acura directly. or you can buy acura paint directly and just pay him for labor.

From your posted pictures, I don't think the paint on the newly painted parts matches the sheet metal or the bumper. The paint shop guy didn't use the same OEM paint color.

Makes the grill even more noticable I think. Don't go rationalizing that it's close enough. It is way off.

1) Get it repainted. It's off front and back

2) What some have mentioned, paint your lights black. It'll look really good.

I would like to paint the lights black as well. I'm just not sure how long the turn around would be to send them away and have them done since I live in Canada. I know there is someone that does it here, can't think of who the member is though.

ahhhhh!

THERE is no such thing as "acura paint," this is such a misconception. Acura doesn't make paint, they make cars. Companies like PPG, RM, Dupont make paint according to the Paint code.

Also, the paint does not match the bumper or the sheetmetal. Doesn't look to have any pearl what so ever.

OP: def make sure you get the correct color code. it def doesnt look like pearl paint in the pics.

Had mine painted at the dealer. Also added the rear roof spolier which I ordered from E-Bay gave them the paint code and they matched it right on. The body shop should be smart enough to do that and it appears they didn't. I wouldn't give them anymore business after they redo it for you.

WDP peint code: NH-603P

You know it seems like a very complicated task but it really isn't. I've seen it done many times on different forums that I finally found the balls to do it myself on my old 350Z. It only took me 30 mins to get the housings apart. The trick is to do them one at a time so you'll have at least one assembled light to use as reference on how to but all the stuff back together. Not talking anything away from the individuals on the board who's offering their services, I've seen their work and it's great, all I am saying is you can do it yourself. It's really not hard. If you're interested then message me. I can share my method.

how close are your bumpers to the sheet metal - ask for a spay out card with the variances and go from there.

I'm not sure why the question of matching the bumper or "sheet metal" keeps getting asked - they look the same to me. The grill simply doesn't match.

I've read that it's something in the plastic that causes this or is the reason it dries differently..? It's very annoying though because it's really noticeable on the WDP.
I am bringing my car to the shop on Tuesday so I will post back what I find out.

My point was that in the pictures he posted the sheetmetal and plastic looked like a good match. The white grill appeared to not match either of them equally.
