I ordered a set of Putco yellow fog lights for and installed them last night. I didn't really realize how little I would care for the yellow fog light right below the orange parking light. I know many have installed switchbacks, but this worked just as well for what I was looking for.
Nothing earth shattering, but I put a small piece of electrical tape over one of the filaments on the parking light/directional light bulb. Takes some trial and error to get the right one. The result is the orange light only blinking as the directional light, and off with the parking lights.
In my quick search, I didn't see any other posts on this so i thought i would share it.
Hmm I may just do that too! Is it hard to get to the signal lights?
It isn't difficult to get to lights. Just a remove a few bolts and clips holding on the splash guards under the front end and you can reach up and change.
I jacked up the front end to give me a little more room, but not necessary.
So I attempted to do this same procedure this evening on my '14 model and while one side operates like I want it to, the other side hyper flashes. I used electrical tape to tape off one side of the filament on the bulb and tested it out in the socket to get the desired effect of the lower turn signal lens staying off with parking lights on and only illuminating when the turn signal is activated. Again, one side works fine and the other hyper flashes. I tried switching the electrical tape to the other side of the bulb, same thing. I tried turning the bulb over to the other side in the socket (as they'll go in both ways), same thing. I tried swapping the bulb and socket from the working side to the side I was hyper flashing on, got hyper flashing on the opposite side.
I'm a bit stumped and kinda irritated that I can't figure this out. I hate the amber being on with the parking lights. How is this working on your car and not mine? Both cars are '12 - '14 models....wtf.

im not positive but i think your problem with taping off the bottom of the bulb is that it LOOKS like there is a wire on each side of the base of the bulb, if you look closely there is actually 4 contacts on the bottom of the bulb so if you've been wrapping a piece of tape around one side of the base of the bulb (like a taco) you have been covering 2 terminals on the one side of the bulb when you actually only need to cover one side of one end of the base….hope this makes sense ;P

I will try covering only one side of the terminal then, thank you for your insight.
