Ordered my TL in April .... still waiting!
Hey Folks,
I keep reading about people taking delivery of their cars and I'm both jealous and envious!
I ordered my 2012 Acura TL Elite package in Alabaster Silver (Canadian colour) with taupe interior in early April. At the time, I was told 8 - 10 weeks for the car to come in which put it around mid-June.
Well, June has come and gone and it's not looking like it will be here in July either. I'm told "likely August"!
Any other Canadians out there that ordered the same colour or having these same delivery problems?
I realize the Tsunami in Japan effected several of Honda / Acura's suppliers for parts and the production facilities are running at a crawl, comparitively.
Cheers,
Jim

I think what people aren't getting is that the cars they do have are not popular packages or what consumers are gulping up. If you're a dealer say in the North East for example you're stuck with 7 base TLs while everyone in the area wants AWD and Tech. Hard to sell cars that show little interest to what your demographics want.

Thanks Guys. I was really looking forward to getting some saddle time in this car over the summer. It looks like that is going to get cut short but I'll have to make it up driving the SH-AWD in our Canadian winters!
Here are two articles my dealer passed along to me when I asked the pointed question as to "what's taking so long". Long story short, part shortages to assembly plant in Ohio.

My local dealer (Houston, TX) also told me there'd be very limited color selection available until sometime in August. Special orders suck. I remember almost 40 years ago waiting 12 weeks for a special order Corvette. When it finally showed up the dealer called me and said there was a problem, it was an automatic and I had specifically ordered MT. Man was I pissed! I got my deposit back and went up to Chicago and found nearly the exact car I had been waiting 3 months for WITH MT sitting on the lot at Nikki Chevy. It wasn't the color I'd ordered, but it was black and black is f'ing gorgeous, just a bitch to keep clean.

A friend's got an '08 RL that was in an accident (May '11) in which the airbags blew and the car's still out of service as the dealer's waiting on an airbag switch to arrive from Japan. I was looking around for some Odyssey's the other day and there's only a handful that each dealer's got. No selection at all.. You've just got to wait it out...

I ordered my "alabaster silver" 2012 TL back in March, the very first week of the 2012 MMC launch, and I'm still waiting.
The original production schedule was in July (this month) before the Japanese earthquake. But now, due to lack of parts for all 2012 TL's, the manufacture date is pushed further away to August, and hopefully I can see the car in Sept.
Even now all North American Honda/Acura factories are back in full capacity, it will take some time to clear out all the backlogs accumulated during the past few months.
Some people in the other threads keep talking about poor 2012 TL sales. It's because many buyers are still waiting in line for their choice of color/trim order. In dealerships, the nice color ones are long since sold. All that is left are the unpopular colors like the "forge silver" that no one wants.

Yes, I would agree with you 100% on this and the waiting does suck! I'm living vicariously through those that are driving theirs already <sigh>.
I'm hoping that the car does arrive in August, but like you said, there is a huge backlog of cars with various combo's that need to get out the door and God only knows where my car sits in that line up. The dealer has commited to me that they would notify me as soon as they received a production schedule for my car.
I did see a Mayan Bronze 2012 TL today, so perhaps thinks are looking up!?

Jim, sorry it's taking so long, but I know it will be worth the wait. And Stew, I've got a set of keys for that warehouse in Kansas!

According to the Honda's memo to all dealers, supply will hit rock bottom in late-July/early-August due to the lag time from actual production to dealership receiving. So only expect to see increasing supply of cars towards the second half of August, if all goes well.

ya well all wheel drives have the 3.7L 305 hp engine vs accord' 3.5L. i can see why ppl would go for AWD, not to mention better handling specially in bad weather areas

[quote=Edward'TLS;13069982]Sorry to disappoint you. The Mayan Bronze color is another fancy name for BROWN. Once again, brown is also not a popular color choice.

Oh, you are not dissappointing me at all. My point of mentioning this last statement is directly in line with your thoughts. That colour is less popular so perhaps they are starting to produce some of the "less popular" colours and combos. It would be nice though to know when the car is scheduled to be built.

There is simply no comparison between the TL and the Accord. Sit inside them, and you know it's extra money well spent on buying the TL.

In Canada, we have less of a trim selection for the 2012 TL.
The Elite/Advance trim is only available on the top-line AWD TL.

New Update:
I called the dealership to ask a few questions about an accessory that I'm having installed and to my dismay he tells me the car is now scheduled to be built on August 16th with estimated delivery the last week of August. Bummer!

But to stay on topic I'm sorry about your wait bud. It's never fun to wait on something especially when the weather is nice. think of it this way when the weather does start to turn sour you can still drive it.
