Opinion on a used TL - CPO

The dealer i bought my 2006 TSX at has a TL for sale. We need a second car, something bigger than the TSX preferably by not definitely. I was wondering what you guys think of this deal:

http://www.openroadacuraofwayne.net/...113&vk=1034915

he wasn't sure what they could do on price yet since they just got it in, but he says they could do better than the listed.

he also said they have a 2003 MDX with 39,000 miles that a guy just traded in, said it's in prestine condition. they have it listed at $17,900 said he could do slightly under 17k for it. Silver with Black interior, Navi (dunno if i like the old navi), and bose sound system. i guess back then it was the top line right?

anyways, would you guys consider either of those? i'm looking for a good deal if i go used, if not, i'm looking at all sorts of vehicles.

Its a nice car with low mileage, but I only paid about $1000 more than that for my 09 TL SHAWD (with tech) with a little less mileage 6 months ago. I say $29,000 wins. Open Road is an aggressive dealer. Their parts department sells TL accessories on Ebay lower priced than anyone in the country. They will deal.

Ask them for $28,000 and see where they go.

You should ask the dealer if this particular TL was a loaner car from the service dept. or if it a demo.

Just curious. I know the mileage can be higher for a loaner but for a demo car, typically how many miles show? Over 1000?

Loaners they try to move before it hits 30k in miles (larger depreciation). Demos, well the dealer I usually go to had a "new" '09 TL SH with a little over 5k on it.

the dealer i go to for service only keeps the loaners for ~10k miles.

6k miles may be a demo, but that isn't a bad thing. These cars are pretty reliable. check the carfax

Really now? There must be some good deals to be had on those loaners.

This is the only one left for sale. Acura TL Link

it's a pretty good deal but with the high resale value of these cars you can get into a new one for a little more.

edit...

just checked that isn't the only one here are the links to the others MDX TL , there are a couple of others but they are similar.

I doubt this was a loaner. They usually issue loaners without Tech. I could be wrong though. If it is a loaner, I personally would never consider it. People beat the heck out of these things and who knows what they also do to it.

Back to question at hand, I think the CPO is a good catch if purchased @$29K. Doubt the dealer will go below $30K. If that's the case I'd buy a new one.

Our 09 TL was a loaner at the dealer. It had 15k when we bought it. It was in great shape.

I don't agree. Acura/Infiniti/Lexus all have loaners, and the people who drive cars like these aren't just kids that beat cars up. Owners normally take care of them. And it shows in ours we got which BTW had Tech.

Carfax shows it was a loaner.

I agree. Most people just drive it from the dealer to work then to the dealer. Also a couple of WOT wouldn't hurt the engine anyway, they are all automatics pretty much idiot proof.

also corporate fleet on a carfax = Loaner, Demo, Manager's car

QFT, I do see the benefit of it being Certified for a longer warranty. I love how I put nothing down on my TL, paid my normal payment and had equity in it within a year and half or so.

my local dealer always puts the side molding onto loaners... i'll bet that car was a loaner.

i'd avoid a loaner. you KNOW what people do to loaners.

the price is ok, but you can do better.

have you considered a CPO 2nd gen RL? similar in size to the new TL but a nicer overall car. not as sporty ins tock form, but you can add aspec suspension and have an RL that will likely outhandle that TL....but for many the new TL styling is "growing" on them and I personally think the new TL looks good.

i hated it at first, but with the kit, and tint, it looks great. very aggressive. moreso , by far, than a 2nd gen RL... but it's just a suggestion.

have you considered leasing...it isn't right for everyone, but if $$ is an issue,, you can get into it for less..

the gray TL - does look very good...should you choose to buy it. i like that color and the body kit makes it look nice.

When I get loaners I treat them as if it was mine, even parking them waaay out in the parking lot. But then, it's just me.

I once got a fully decked out RL with Tech from Acura of Boston.

I'm not sure why but it might be to keep the price down since it costs 1.5-2k to certify it.

I bought mine a month ago for 29K+. It used to be a service loaner from the dealer. It was well taken care of. It looks brand new when I got it. It was a 2009 TL. I also got an extended warranty for 7 years/100K miles for 2K more.

YIKES. That should only have cost you ~$1200. If you still can, cancel that part of the purchase and see what Curry Honda or Bernardi Honda can do the 7 yr/100k/$0 deductible extended AcuraCare warranty for. It should be about $1200. Most certainly NOT $2k.

I treat loaners nicely too...but I honestly think we are the exceptions. The general public gets a loaner and they don't take care of it. they drive it hard, spill crap in it, etc etc. I'm not saying that most acura owners go so far as to ABUSE a loaner - but you KNOW some of them do...

i'd rather not buy a car that got flogged as a loaner. just my opinion.
