OOOOhh, a Tough One. Oil Level Sensor?

My 2012 TL (108k miles) occasionally gives me a message saying my oil level is low. It is not. In fact, its about 1mm above the full line. (First time I have over-filled it)

Probably a bad oil (level?) sensor. Where is that stupid thing? And How do I replace it? Could the ever-so-slight overfill be causing that?

Thanks for the wisdom of the hive!

It's an oil pressure sensor, which does not measure the oil level. All three of my 4G TL SH-AWD's have had the message come up randomly. From my research, this is a common "issue." Look around on the forum and you'll find a thread with the service manual posted as how to swap it.

Overfill doesn't matter, the car physically cannot know that the oil level is high.
Here is your oil pressure switch

Wink

Bing "check later" XD, I would still monitor you oil you do not want to have to replace your cams cause you were being ignorant to your check later notification. The sh awd model leaks from factory due to shitty seals

Also never over fill , I did this once and my sh awd light came on which disabled my car to only go 4k rpms max, it messed with a sensor (I forgot which one) but if you over fill it can potentially disable your sh awd

These engines are allowed to overfill up to a quart. I always overfill with 0.5 and there are no problems. During the engine flush, the engine ran for 3 hours at 7 quarts and there were no problems.

I overfilled a few months ago and it messed with a sensor which triggered a sensor which lead to my car disabling itself

Sounds like nonsense, most likely it's a coincidence. The worst thing that overfilling can do is foaming of the oil and squeezing out the seals. How much oil did you overfill?
