I am in the market for new car and I have test driven all the cars I'm interested in and I have narrowed it down to 2 choices. 2012 Acura TL FWD Tech vs 2012 Acura TL Tech. I got a quote from dealership here for $32900 on-the-road for the TL and haven't even negotiated the price for TSX. I was wondering which one would be a more sound choice in your opinion, because I can't make up my mind . I appreciate any pointers (PROS & CONS) on either car!

 

Hey Bruce, you'll probably want to do a search on this comparison, since it's been discussed before. The cars haven't changed drastically since those past threads so anything mentioned in them is still very relevant to now.

You will get a TL answer in this forum and a TSX answer in the TSX forum because the question is posed to the sample grouping that answered that question with their purchase choice.

Both cars are great and it will be personal preference that decides things. For me, car length is an important factor so I would have to choose the TSX now; however, I chose a 3G TL 6 years ago when the TL was < 190" long. I still prefer the TSX looks as well even after the mid-cycle grill update to the TL that made the grill more tolerable.

The TSX is most compelling in I4/6MT form and the TL is most compelling in AWD form- those are forms that are only available in the model and not shared. The other factor important to some people is the fold-down seat the TSX has. I thought I was going to miss the fold-down seat, but really haven't because the pass-thru port works pretty well too for the items I'm likely to haul. Today I used it to haul a beach umbrella and still had seating for 4. You can't do that with the TSX- you would be hauling just 3 people I believe.

So the answer really can only be answered by you as to which car is best. As you can see, my priorities in a car probably won't align with your priorities that will be the same for all of us here.

 

Both are great cars as Lacosta said. If you prefer a more comfortable ride I'd go TL. If you want better mileage go TSX. I'd spend time test-driving both cars to determine which fits your lifestyle and preferences best.

 

Coming from someone who owns a 2011 TSX Wagon and a 2012 TL Advance, if you are a person with a "long" waist (I am 6'2", with a 30" inseam), the TL fits me much better. I feel like I have more head room in the TL and for that reason my back does not hurt.
