Oil consumption recall

hello
i just bought our TL few days ago. 2013 SH-AWD W/TECH automatic trans . the car has just under 110k. it has been serviced at a local acura dealership its whole life and it is a one owner car.
i read little about this oil consumption for these engines the J37. but i have not seen a recall?
i did run my VIN and it said no recalls available. does it mean this oil consumption recall has been done? I did pay for carfax and got all history but did not find anything in it.

There isn't a oil consumption recall.

Not a recall but a Service Bulletin alerting dealers of a common issue and the fix. You can try to get the repair done but you need an oil consumption test first.

Please note that not all 3.7L-V6 SH-AWD 4G TL sedans consume excessive engine oil. Some owners have been reporting zero oil consumption at all.

So there is no recall from Acura. But an oil consumption test was available (within warranty period ?) to test for excessive oil burning problem, and Acura would fix the engine only if it deemed that the burn rate was severe on a case to case basis.

thank you for the reply. i will watch over mine and see how it is doing.
i did notice a few little things with mine. on cold start i have a few loose valves. i might need to do valve adjust. my auto trans has stutter in low speed trying to down shift. i guess it is known issue and can be fixed with a fluid change or software update on TCU.

Note: The car must fail the oil consumption test prior to the car reaching the 8th anniversary of its original in-service date, or 125k miles, whichever comes first, for Acura to do the engine repair for free (under the terms of the class action settlement for the oil consumption issue).

so what are the steps for this?
have acura do oil consumption test. if it fails will they just replace engine? my car just turned 110K
what does it mean " reaching the 8th anniversary of its original in-service date"

Call dealership asap to try to book the start of the test. Like he said there are time and milage limits for the fix. If it fails they will replace the pistons and rings.

Let's say your car was first sold on April 1, 2013. You have until March 31 (completing 8 years since it was first sold) of this year for it to fail the test and get the free repair. If it was first sold before 3/13/13 (today) you have already missed the deadline.

You're right except I think it has to start the test by that date not fail the test by that date. Since it can take a while to complete the test.
