Newb here to say hello!

Hey guys/gals.
I am a 3 year owner of a '11 TL base that I was leasing.
I decided recently to purchase outright cash my car that is so dear to me, and that I have absolutely babied, rather than go into a new lease.
Besides, the taxes where I live absolutely kill me, and made my decision easy.
I got turned onto this sight by a customer of mine that I befriended.
He is a Acura TL enthusiast as it turns out, and owns a couple Gen. 3 TLs.
So far..I took off the base 17's wheels/tires, and added the OEM 19s with new Kuhmo all season rubber.
I plan on adding very soon (waiting for a great price to come along) the full OEM Aero kit. (still undecided on adding the side moldings as well, to complete the kit. thoughts?).
I'm experienced in posting in online forums, as I been posting in watch enthusiasts forums for the last five years.
My TL is my favorite back drop to snap pics of my watches.
Looking forward to posting here for a long time, and sharing pics with you of my car as it gets cooler looking with age.

~Dave

( PS: hope you guys don't mind the watches in the pics. I need to take a photo session with just the car in the near future)

Real nice Hansome, love the watches too! I like Breitling but that Omega with the mesh band is my favorite in this group.

Thanks Sdot
I didn't know if it was a real good idea posting pics of the watches in a car forum thread.
But, right now it's the only pics of my car that I currently have, and sharing with the group what I dig besides my TL.
I cannot wait to trick out my car to my liking.
PS The Omega on the mesh bracelet is called the Ploprof 1200m dive watch.

especially when he didnt say anything about selling them....

A PM would have been the better route of asking him. for you know, Future reference.

Maybe you guys can set me on the right path.

Found it!
I couldn't borrow the pics, but, here is the link of what I want my car to look like.

http://www.bridgewateracura.com/cert...7e76d71f26.htm

I want that whole A spec kit, and door panels. So far the best I found is $1032 not including shipping.
My son-in-law owns a body shop and is willing to do the install for me.

As in the pic of my car I posted in my OP. I already have new OEM 19s on new Kuhmo all-season rubber to get started.

Thanks. I thought of that, but, then I'd get 4 large shipping charges, no?

^forgive soupi, he's a little dense.

yes, 4 separate shipping charges. 4 separate tax charges.
not mentioning the additional mark up of each piece

there's a vendor on here that works for a dealership or something. Maybe he could get you a shipped quote of all 4 pieces.
his user name is Acktl05, and his first name is Bruce. he should be listed as a vendor on this website

I'm also interested in, in the future, upgrading my brake calipers, rotors, drums.
The OEMs look like crap w/ surface rust on them.
I heard that putting covers over the calipers will make the brakes heat, and I don't want that as a trade off.

you can also browse
http://store.excelerateperformance.com/
and
www.acuraoemparts.com

to see if anything catches your eye.
the Acura RDX comes with Brake covers from the factory.
we, the third generation TL, have been installing the OEM RDX brake covers on our ugly brakes.

most "aftermarket" rotors come with the hub painted, so it wont get rusty.
if you're a DIY kinda guy, you could paint the hub black.
also, I'd paint the caliper black as well.
it looks like its made of stone or marble the way its changing colors lol

Yeah it does look like crappy marble huh? lol.
I could paint the hubs, and calipers black with (I read) some kind of high temperature rated engine paint?
But, then I'd still have rusty trim on my rotors.

Pretty much all rotors will rust unless you shell out $$ for some carbon ceramic ones. You could look into getting powdercoated rotors to protect the hub area and the non-swept surface. Very minor issue IMO. Not worth buying a different kit just for that, especially if you're not going to be tracking the car. The stock brakes are more than adequate. We also dont have drum brakes.

I've painted the hubs, outter tirm on the rotors, and calipers. I used Caliper Paint... It held up on the calipers for over a year now, the rotors needed to be redone after about 8 months... but it's under an hour to do it so I just redo it once a year or so... The ASpec kit is top notch... I bought the door moldings originally with the kit never installed them and returned them. The local Acura Parts Manager is a friend... We held them up to the car a couple of times and it just killed how sleek the car looked... Food for thought...

Thanks for the useful replies guys and compliments on my watches.
Yeah, I mistakingly called the "hubs", drums lol.
Now I know what they are called...it's hilarious that I am now, and sound like the Newb..lol.

Camaro194..thanks for helping me come to my senses. There is nothing wrong functionally with the OEM brake set up. I just would like to improve it's appearance.

User Error...Sounds like a plan. I think I'll follow in your footsteps painting.
Any brand you recommend for the caliper paint..link maybe?
Can I use the same paint on the hubs?
And yeah, I'm on the crossroads on if I really will dig the door moldings.
I should do what you did, before they are applied, and too late to turn back.

I went to Pep boys and bought "Caliper Paint" it says it right on the can your auto parts store will only have one brand... and yeah use it on the hubs top of the rotor everything... try not to get a ton on the silver part of the rotor but some is fine... the brake pads will sand it off in a few miles... they'll stick a little at first don't worry about it... drive 5 miles applying the brakes frequently for no reason and it'll cut the nicest lines you've seen around the edge...

Thanks guys. Appreciate it.
@PhoenixUnit: I don't plan on tricking it out other than adding the A-spec kit, and the new OEM 19s I already put on it.
I just wish I wasn't at the crossroads over adding additionally the OEM door moldings. I wish I could find an online pic of the A-pec kit, door moldings, and my 19s installed.
It would really help my decision.

Contacted Bruce today to order the A Spec kit for my TL.
Waiting to hear back from him, and then it's a go.
After I get it, i'll ask my son-in-law who owns a body shop, on when he can install it for me.
I'm stoked!

PS: I decided against ordering the door moldings at this time.
