Need new brakes immediately!

Just got an oil change today and the dealer told me i need new front and rear brake pads and my rotors need to be resurfaced. i was wondering if i should have them replaced with Acura OEM brake pads or Centric premium brake pads(the highest model they sell) centric are what my mechanic sells or should I go with a different brand? please let me know ASAP!! thanks

most blank rotors most likely come from centric.
dealer rotors and centric rotors will stop the car.
oem pads and centric pads will stop the car.

it depends on your budget and your goals.

in short, the two options you gave will do just fine. it's your job to pick which one you want.

Here's a link to all the brake packages we offer. The first is the premium blank package and the second is the slotted.

These Acurazine brake packages are designed to improve braking performance and durability at a reasonable price. The packages include STOPTECH performance rotors and STOPTECH pads. All of the rotors have a black e-coating on the hubs and vanes and an advanced alloy composition.

acura pads and rotors would work fine for daily driving, if you do any spirited driving and perform hard stops you might run into the situation where the pads leave deposits on the rotor surface. This can happen if the brakes are not allowed to cool while holding the brake pedal down e.g. like at a stoplight.

this can cause the brake shudder where you feel a vibration upon hard braking.

I went with ceramic pads and slotted rotors on my v6 tsx and i am very happy with that combination. It feels so much better and direct with braking.

My shawd tl has shudder under braking and as soon as the pads wear out i plan to swap out the oem rotors and pads for slotted and ceramic brakes.

I do a lot of spirited driving! haha but I decided that I'm going to go with the Centric Ceramic brake pads. I read a lot of reviews and they seem like pretty good brake pads so I figured I'd give them a shot. thanks guys for the help

I also need a front right strut as well so I decided I would get both front struts so I wouldn't be driving one new one and one older one. I found KYB GR-2 struts and they are known to be a little more stiffer than OEM struts so I think I'm going to go with them over OEM struts. Any opinions?

its really not that hard.
any rotor and pad combo will stop the car.

again, if you want KYB shocks, get them! they're fine!

When my stock pads wear out, I'm gonna get an XLR8 package.

^^me too. But still lots of pad left on the front and new pads on the back.
I'm intrigued with the slotted package but I still like the clean look of the blanks.

i don't drive super aggressively that often...but it sounds like the stockers will go 50-60k quite easily.

It depends on your driving style.

Unless the dealer replaced my pads before I bought the car CPO at 22K, I got 130k out of my pads, but 95% of that was highway driving.

Even if they did replace them as part of CPO, I got 108K out of one set of brake pads.

hwy but still thats crazy

what's harder to believe is my 08 accord which were replaced at 30k and were driven lightly for 90% of that

I bought my TL as a CPO with 31k on it and it needed new brakes and rotors all the way around. The dealer did replace them, but 31k is nothing.
