Lower Quarter Panel Chips

Anyone experiencing constant chipping on the lower portion of their quarter panels near the rear doors? I wonder if the splash guards will protect against this? I’m just afraid of rust.
In this pic you can see the rock chips scattered all along this area.

Definitely get the mud guards. I may have one of those chips on my car (which has the guards) in 8 years.

I have an unpainted aftermart front only set. I wanted the oem painted set but for my color it’s discontinued. I figured mud guards would help my problem.

as soon as I put my aftermarket wheels on; I get mud flings all across the body...thus why I asked.
I see why auto manufactures use narrow wheels.

Do you have an oem set of aftermart mudflaps? I was thinking of going with a universal pair of mudflaps.

I've owned my 4g for about 2.5 years now and I'm started to see clear coat peels in certain areas. The most noticeable is on the passenger door about the size of a baseball near the door handle. It's also started to show bubbles/flaking near the edge of the rear bumper where it meets the quarter and where the mufflers are.. smh this really breaks my heart. I try so hard to care of the paint and it's this type of failure where it's turning me off. I hope you get it resolved. I'm debating on doing a full paint job with a quality base/clear.

I also noticed the inferior quality of Acura/Honda paint. My 8th gen civic coupe had clear coat spots all over the hood. It seems the paint Honda/Acura uses is a very soft paint and it’s not tough enough to handle everyday Highway driving. I had a Maaco paint job on my 4th Gen Nissan Maxima stand up to everyday road debris. Trust I’m just like you in taking care of this cars’ paint. It’s truly a great car I just wish they used a more durable paint.

You said you are afraid of rust. Then put some touch up paint and clear over it asap!

OEM mudflaps look kinda lame and cannot use with the performance air dam and rear fascia, however I have not had any chips.

I was thinking of going with a universal set since for my year (2013) Bellanova White Pearl is discontinued and it’ll cost me a fortune to get a body shop to paint them in that color. I was looking at Rally Armor but they poke out too much.

Yeah they are all out of them. I really don’t see why since white is a really popular color. I have an aftermarket set that’s in black but the rears are designed for the 09-11 TL. lol I wonder if I could just get away with just installing the fronts.

I only have the fronts on mine. I took the rears off when I took the bumper off and never put them back on. I'd say maybe I've gotten a few small chips on the rear bumper but certainly nothing very noticeable. And it's plastic so there's no worry with rusting.

I just noticed my driver side is chip free but the passenger side is the one with several chips. I seen an OEM set on eBay for $50 but they are white diamond pearl not sure how much of a difference that’ll make since I have a 2013 in Bellanova White Pearl. I’m might do front only like you.

Yeah, it might almost be better to get unpainted black than a shade of white that doesn't match your current shade. There are plenty of cars that have black, unpainted splash guards and they don't look bad at all. It's one of those things that you don't know for sure until you put them on.

Just gotta figure out how to install the rears since they are from the 09-11 for the unpainted set have. Is the refresh bumper from the 2013-2014 that much different?

I couldn't tell you on that. I know the rear part is, but it doesn't seem like the sides are.

Judging from these 2 pics I found on google I think I might get away with it.
