Lost my key fob for my 2009 Acura TL

Can anyone please tell me if I can just buy one from Ebay and have it programmed at the dealership? my problem is how much would it be to have the key re-cut? any info would help.

I was in Lowes on Friday night & walked by their key department and saw a sign about replacing lost key fobs, it basically said why pay dealer prices. I didn't stop to ask what it entailed.

I have to go in there today & will ask about it & update this post later; I wonder if you need your 2nd key fob in order to do it.

Cheers,

Nick

I just stopped again at Lowes, the guy told me it's only for fobs that utilize keys to start the car as opposed to ours that have a keyless ignition.

Cheers,

Nick

To answer your question, yes you can buy the fob on ebay and have it programmed at the dealership, I went this route for my car. I had a total of 4 registered to mine. I didn't worry about the key blades being correct and have never had a problem with the keyless system to date. I use the ebay ones as my regular key, and the spares (that came with my car) at home incase I ever need the key blade. I remember the dealership charged me ~70 to do the programming.

get the key blade from ebay and the dealer will cut and program it for you at one price.
