Looking to get a remote starter for my 2010 TL

Any recommendations? Was thinking about getting the OEM remote starter... Any thoughts? And anyone know how to install them in NJ?

I own OEM starter and I like it. I only use it in the winter. I store the remote during spring/summer.

Unless it's the OEM starter you usually need a Bypass Module as well.

I live in NJ and have had two cars done with the smart key. Both ran 400 bucks, the smart key is a pain for them to use, so they say.

How hard is it to install the OEM starter compared to a Viper or CompuStar unit? Also, where abouts would one get it for a decent price? I'm always for OEM parts.

From the install instructions for the oem, it doesn't look to difficult at all. More time consuming than anything else taking panels off. I prefer the aftermarket one, that gets programmed into your key fob, no extra fob and your car already has the unlock/lock and panic features already in a fob.

I installed the OEM remote starter on my 09. The installation is extremely easy as the OEM starter comes with all the wire harnesses. There is no wire cutting, tapping and everything is 100% reversible.

As a word of caution, if you decide to do the install yourself, you will need the HDS/HIM OBD module. After you install everything, you use the HIM to program the immobilizer so it accepts your new starter.

The OEM starter is really bulky and kinda hurts in your pocket. If I was you I would go with a smart starter or I personally would go with the mobile starters that you can use your phone for,

i think you get better deal and range to go with Viper.

i installed the Viper one way remote start ( you do not need the security feature since your car comes with it) the range is great and price is fairly cheap ( 200 with remote, bypass and labor)

I'm currently looking into a Viper system as well - it was already below 0 on Monday and today when I went to work at 7:30am

I see that I can either buy the Starter, or the Starter+Security kit. I'm assuming I would only go with the Starter, since the car has an OEM alarm.

Does anyone disagree with me, and suggest getting the Starter+Security instead? It looks like I'd be skipping out on the 4 button remote, a panic function, alerts, a new siren, shock sensor, and killswitch.

Hi all,
I just have one question about the starter. If i go with no OEM starter, does it require the valet key in order to completer the installation? Can I use my OEM Key fob?
Thanks.

There is an additional fob for it. I only use it in the winter.

I have the OEM starter but hate fact that the engine stop when I open the doors or trunk to get the snow brush out...
Always have to restart the car again causing unnecessary wear.

I only have the TL for a couple days but I've noticed that the car wasn't higher than 1200 RPM at the initial start. My accord is usually at 1500 or 1600 but I don't think there is any thing wrong with the TL. Again, i'm still trying to get used to it first before I can draw any conclusion.

I have viper alarm with smart starters on both of my Acura and they are working like a champ. I do not like the factory starter at all since it is expensive and limited uses as oppose to smart features
