So glad I found this thread. My driver side HID went out in less than a day (never seen that happen before!), so I figured I'd upgrade the DRL/highs while replacing the both HIDs. Couple of questions:
1. For the Diode Dynamics D2S HID replacements, what temperature did you end up installing?
2. What did you use to correct your headlight lenses to factory new?
Thanks,
Tony
I bought the 6000K bulbs from diode dynamics, they are a direct fit amd are pretty easy to install. I did remove the wheel and the plastic covering for the wheel well. You can do it just by removing some of the clips and sticking your hand through, but its a pain in the ass that way.
For the headlight correction I hand sanded the headlights, starting with 800 grit and moving up to 1000, 1200, 2000, then 3000. I used the griots garage 3" dual action polisher with meguiars 105 compound and 205 polish to finish them.

Thanks for the quick feedback, I really appreciate it! I'll post my final product when everything is done...thank you for the inspiration!
Woah, do you know where these are available for purchase?
This is a completely custom design. If you want headlights like that, then make them yourself) Buy a used unit from 2016 RDX or ILX ($ 200 OEM each on eBay) and insert into your headlights. Everything is very simple.
I know there are threads about LED high beams but i thought i would give people another option besides the IJDMtoy ones. The Hikari LED's on Amazon are amazing and are functional 100× better than the halogens. I didnt buy the resistor and i have no codes or flickering i recommend them to anyone looking get good quality LED's that are an improvement not only aesthetically but also improve functionality.
DRL DRL
After replacing my projectors, my DRL are aimed the the same way as yours really weird.
4TL-R with CBIs that's what I'm running and they perform really good! You gain a double HB with the 4TL-R

So you're saying this is a 1 for 1 switch? No alterations needed to make it fit?

No, i've never done this personally, but i'd assume you'd have to make alterations but im sure its simple enough if you actually wanted to do it. I read somewhere its worse light ouput than our OEM's but im not 100% sure im getting an 3G RDX so ill know soon.

You will need to disassemble the housing and get all the reflectors from there, then take these LED modules and fit, cut off somewhere, bend somewhere, then glue them to the housing instead of reflectors and you will have LED like in 2016 RDX. If you do it carefully, it will be almost impossible to see that it is not from this headlight=)
Im running OEM projectors i was going to buy some lenses off of dopeboy but i didn't want to bake open my lens i think they look great as is.
Another Toronto TL owner made the trip to Niagara to buy them a while ago. Sad that I didn't get to use them but my moding has ground to a halt to focus on home renovations 😭
oh well they went to a good home and I was happy to check out his TL.

That sounds like a job for someone more competent than myself
Well my Diode dynamics gave out, started flickering enough to give someone a seizure and then after a few days the bulb died. I did blast eurobeat while driving so people thought i was just having a club party in my car. I bought OSRAM CBB 7000K from HIDConcept, and verified that the bulbs were legit through Osrams website. I recommend buying off HIDConcept, if you decide to purchase some new bulbs. They have great customer service, best pricing i found, and free shipping to Canada. Took around a week to get to me, which isnt bad at all considering its still Covid. Shipping has slowed down everywhere. First impressions, are they are way brighter and have a cleaner cut off than the diode dynamic bulbs. Don't get me wrong, the diode dynamics were great for what they were ($40 bulbs) i may have also accidently touched the glass upon install, which would cause hot spots on the bulb and cause premature failure. I can't remember for sure but it is a high possibility. The driver side showed no signs of failure, and i didnt wait long enough before popping the Osrams in, too see if they were going to fail. But i will stick too diode dynamics for my LED needs only. I will provide a better review of the Osram CBB bulbs, when i get a chance too drive the car on some dark spooky country roads. I will provide pictures of the lights, and how well they match my Diode dynamic switchbacks and Hikari fogs when i can. I made a video to help anyone who is interested in doing a DIY Low beam installation.
I'm unsure of the date you purchased your HID replacement bulbs. However, if you're within 3 years, you're eligible for coverage under the warranty policy here at Diode Dynamics.
Please, feel free to let me know if I can be of more help!

I'm in Canada too. My OE fog lamps are still working after 10+ rough winters. The fact that your aftermarket ones didn't last that long is what's holding me back from replacing my OE ones. The OE one work, they're just pitted from 10 years of flying rocks.
I have been running PUTCO branded LEDS for Fog and DRL and so far so good. Been running them since 2017 and is going on 5th Canadian winter. I choose those ones because it had no moving parts. The details are posted here:
I need to check how they look at night. I will let you know. In DRL mode, there is 1/2 the voltage to the bulb but I never really tested/looked at it. I do know it's super bright running as DRL.
The Putco LEDs have a noticeable difference visually when in DRL and High Beam Mode. There is definitely more voltage going though the bulb and making it brighter.
