LED headlights..

I've done a search and of course the TLX LED headlights won't fit in the 4rth gen TL. I'm looking to get a 2012-14 stick TL and would love to have LED lights. All over. But it's the headlights that got me. I know there are bulbs, but their output is merely 2200-2400 lumens. Would a retro of the TLX lights work with minimal body modifications? Or does anyone know of LED bulbs with the lumen count of about 3500? Maybe I should just get a 5-series with LED headlamps. The TLX deal breaker is front wheel drive and no manual. Screw the DSG too. I wonder if the 535 or the 550 is available with AWD and a manual tranny. Will look that up.

Anyway, thanks in advance.

You're choosing a vehicle based on the headlights? That's...odd.

Certainly not. My must-haves are AWD and stick shift in a nice, quick sedan. LED is an afterthought. I only wish the G37xS had a manual tranny option.

The LED lights have a reputation of less light output than HIDs. There's a thread over in the TLX section talking about it.

Regarding the TLX, they make a SH-AWD variant though it's not manual transmission.

In BMW land, you're not getting AWD and manual transmission for a 5 series. The 3 series had a few different models that offered that combo though.

Audi you've got a few options

Subaru you've got quite a few options

VW has the Golf R

P6 bubls With Philips Luxeon emits much more light and the light is wider compared to OEM Acura MDX HIDS. Measured that with lumen meter.

Thanks for the response. You're right about the 5-series and manuals. They're no longer available on AWD models.

As for LED, I have a GS350 with HID kits installed. They're bright. But not nearly as my old man's Q50 lights. And that's stock Infiniti lights. Not aftermarket. I'm sure there exist bulbs that are much brighter than HID. As in the link above. Plus, they're more energy efficient. The new stock Benz and BMW LED's are blinding bright as well, properly lighting up the road, instead of the eyes of drivers in oncoming traffic. HID's look like bright high-beams (when installed in halogen sockets).

Those are not standard equipment for the TLX are they?

If we bring aftermarket stuff in the mix there's obviously 400 million options.

I'm speaking specifically with the Acura TLX (which you mentioned by name in your post) and the Acura TL with HIDs where you talk about swapping/retrofitting.

Obviously there are options out there.
