J37a4 swap with j37a2

Need a new engine I think mine is done after a month and a half of owning it. Found a j37a2 engine within my price range, can I swap my j37a4 with that. What is the difference between the two?

The Acura catalog says that J37A2 09-10 RL is not interchangeable with J37A4, but J37A2 11-12 RL can be installed in place of J37A4. The main thing is that the crankshaft sensor is in the oil pan, and not on the timing belt sprocket. Write a link to the engine you want to install.

If I was faced with a situation of replacing the engine, then I would install J35Z6 from the front-wheel drive TL. Here's a good suggestion, oil changed every 6k miles. https://ahparts.com/buy-used/2012-ac...k1a11/290053-1

not sure how responding on here works but the link for the one I was looking at is https://www.ebay.com/itm/12581225029...0AAOSwR59kCrJN
I guess since it’s 09-10 it won’t work but do you know why not? Or would the 11-12 fit on to my transmission alright?

I’ve heard the j35s are more reliable. It’s just hard to find them where I’m at that engine I posted above from the rl is in new York that’s about 8 hours from me. The only engine in my province has that gerzy bear supercharger on it and a bunch of kms.

This engine will not work for you, it has an old design block and it does not have crankshaft milling that does not have a crankshaft sensor read disk.
Don't worry about the transmission, it's a standard design.

Yes, only you will lose power due to the lack of VTEC on the exhaust valves and the reduced engine size(305 hp 273 lb⋅ft to 280 hp 254 lb⋅ft). Fuel corrections should smooth out all the nuances and there will be no check engine check light.

I want to know more about the only engine in your province with the gerzy bear supercharger on it. Got a link?

Any way I could get the vtec back in a z6. Aftermarket cams or something? I know there’s much more support for power in the j35 then the j37

You will have VTEС on J35Z6, but only on intake valves. What happened to your J37A4?

the serpentine belt went and wore a hole through my timing belt cover around the crank, got under the timing belt and threw the timing off like a month and a half into owning it. Best case I only need a valve job done cause I was only going about 40-50 kmph

cant the J37 heads be swapped onto the J35 block to retain exhaust vtec?

I think if he remove the heads, then it's probably better, faster and cheaper to replace and grind the bent valves .
