Instructions for disassembling a 4G TL Tail Light?

Hi everyone!

I understand that the 4G tails need to be dremeled open if you want to modify the insides of them in any way. Has anyone done this? Would anyone happen to have a pic of where you are cutting?
I removed the tails and I cant seem to figure out where the easiest part to cut would be.
Any help would be appreciated

i thought about it but from what i have seen all you have to do is start slowly, do not cut too deep.

cut on the outer most part

yeah that's what I came up with as well. The only thing that concerned me is if you slip once and cut too deep you will cut right into the silver trim piece that is inside the light.

My thought was cut in towards the middle of the light more but that doesn't look like it will work. If I cut too far towards the middle I wont be able to get the entire pieces of the inside of the light out.

decisions....lol

I guess ill be doing it myself soon as well....Ill take some pics along the way and post them up but it wont be for a few weeks.

I was really hoping someone that had done a set of 4G tails had a pic of where they cut. I posted twice in jnc's custom head/tail light thread but my posts were ignored lol

well probably one of the reasons being that he didnt respond is that it will interfere with his business... its actually not hard.. people are just scared to do it because there isnt a diy..

if there is a diy.. people will be doing it themselves and not asking jnc to do it..

even if there is a DIY, 63.7% of people will still be either too scared or too lazy to do their own lights

I've done tons of lights.....I've got this

Jnc is just trying to protect his source of making a living.

Why risk losing that 36.3% of potential customers by revealing his hard-worked trade secrets ?

Thus, this is exact what this forum is for.

Some members here attempts their DIY projects. They learn from their mistakes. They share and discuss their modding experiences with us all. Improvements are made, and the detailed DIY finally posted.

Have not done them yet.
Im trying to finish my maintenance (diff fluid, tranny fluid....etc) and get my grilles (front and rear) repainted. I also have to get my new tires mounted on my vossens and get them cleaned up for summer. When that is done Tiara Lynn (the TL) is going to need a lot of clay and wax and probably some polish. Unfortunately the shop has been so busy I haven't had much time to work on my own car. Hopefully I will have everything on my list finished by the end of this month and then I can move on to another project being my tail lights. Then I need to install my remote starter/alarm....

it never ends

ever

wellllll......no

Like i said I work at a performance shop and we are VERY busy this time of year. Its seriously so busy here I was here till almost 10pm last night finishing a customers car because he needed it back the next morning.
I unfortunately have had no time to work on my own car.
This is probably going to be a project I will tackle when we are back from SEMA in November and through our winter tire rush. Its not something I want to rush so Im not going to start it until I know I will have more than enough time to finish it.
Ill keep you guys updated.
