Installing mud flaps.....

For all who installed the mud flaps themselves I have a question, while reading the instructions for installation it says to use "a high quality wax for the parts that cover the body." How necessary is this step?did anyone do this or not do it?

i have never done it either....some say that if you plan to take them off in the future that you should put some tape inbetween the splash guards and the body....

I just put them on the TL. I see what they mean, but if one gets damaged aren't you just going to replace it anyway?

that'd be nice if you can upload some pictures after you install them. I am also considering to do this, but my understanding is they come in black and my car is white, so I am not quite sure if they will look alright together.

They are all color coded to match your paint, I have just recently installed them on my 2012 by the way I have an extra set in silver moon color if anyone is interested.

I looked at mine today and interestingly, the front has them but the back doesn't. I am curious if they all come out like this from factory. (mine's 12' BWP/Umber w/Tech Pack)

The Canadian models come with front splash guards installed only while US models do not. When ordering, you need to specify your color code and it seems that there are some new colors for 2012 although I believe the BWP has been offered in other years.

Also, if you intend to install a body skirt, splash guards will not do.

I'm about to install mines now...but from the look of of it, do I have to remove the rear tires? Theres one screw that looks it can't be reached without removing tire.

When I installed mine, jacking up the corner and removing the wheel made the rear installation much easier.

I had my mudflaps installed at the dealership when I bought the car. I'm positive they didn't wax before installation....

no doubt its easier to do with the rear wheel off, but it can be done without....i used a phillips bit and a 3/8" ratchet drive with a socket that fit the phillips head bit and it worked like a charm....
