I started my 2013 Tl Tech using the door button!

I am new to this forum. Have been trying to look this up everywhere but cannot seem to find the answer. I asked the dealership and looked up the manuals. No luck. Registered on here to see if anyone else noticed this...

I was trying out the features on my just bought 2013 TL tech CPO on the dealership lot. Pushed the lock button a bunch of times thinking it would unlock all the doors (came from Infiniti G37 which does that) and lo and behold after I pushed the button twice and held it in the car started!!

I called the salesman out who has been with Acura for years and he hadn't seen this before. Im trying to see if anyone knows what this feature is for and if its a legit feature or does it mean someone has messed with the wiring on my new bundle of joy?

Your inputs will be greatly appreciated

Clarification: Pushed the lock button on the drivers side door x2 and held it in = Remote start for the poor man

First time hearing this. It's probably aftermarket. Maybe it'll start using your remote as well.

If indeed true, then perhaps there may be an aftermarket remote starter or

some one jumbled up the wires and attached the ignition wires to the lock button

You are absolutely right. Car does in fact have an after market starter programmed into original smart key! The dealer did not discover this during the certification process!!? If they had known Im pretty sure I would've had to pay for it.

Works from the door lock button too. Pretty cool.

Of course the dealer didn't know, Most dealers are stupid....

Effing guy at the parts counter didn't know what a 3G TL was nor did he know that 07-08 was different then 04-06 then he also tried to argue with me that the 3G body style started in 2003.

"We have a 2003 on our lot."

My reply, go look at a 03 and then a 04 and let me know.

There is a also feature where you can unlock all the doors and roll down all the windows by holding the unlock button on the remote.
(Something like that.)

No, you're exactly right and it sucks...

Double click the unlock and on the second time hold it down. Windows will go down and sunroof will open up.

I know for a fact DEI has an available remote start that you can press the Lock button on the OEM remote fob 3 times and it will start the car. I just purchased this for a friend as a Christmas gift.

I'm unsure if the TL is one of the compatible vehicles, but it's done digitally. So locking the driver's door three time would (I assume) send the same signal and therefore start the car.

Why does it suck? Because you have accidentally done this or there isn't another option to close the windows and sunroof remotely?

Happened accidentally overnight when I was visiting someone (so not parked in my garage) and there's no way to disable it. Personally I don't see any reason why I'd want to open all four windows and the sunroof with the remote.

If someone knows how to disable it, I'll PayPal them a dollar.

this is a long shot but if you can possibly look under the steering wheel and see if there is a brand name to this remote starter i would like to know as ive been searching for something like this that can retain my factory remote.
i know compustar makes a plug n play kit for the 13-up accords however its not compatible for our cars

I believe Viper Smart Start supports this now.

Tried it, nothing happens besides the beep confirming that the car is locked ...again I have a 10 so maybe that's why. Op has a 13' ..if it does cool feature to have though it's doesn't really helps because you start the car at the door might as well start it when you get in ... unless the key fob performs the same feature then it's a +1 .

Pushing the lock button multiple times and holding it did nothing for me but made the beep sound beep when I pushed it. I guess I don't see the advantage to this anyway. You are already to the door. Just open it and push the ignition button.

This is a great feature on a very hot day to let the heat out before entering the vehicle when it was sitting in a parking lot. What is shitty is how you can't roll them back up with the fob

Neither of the switches in the glovebox disables this feature?

It's aftermarket. This is not OEM.

The OP has an aftermarket remote start. If your car is stock it will not do this.

I've got ceramic window tint. If they gave a method to disable the functionality I'd be cool with it - even if it's in the MID system thing.

Switches in glovebox are for the trunk release and the keyless entry. You can disable the proximity unlock and popping the trunk. Just the two toggles are in there.

You have to make a conscious effort to push down the unlock button twice, and a conscious effort to hold it down on the second press. You could NOT do that . OK, send me my dollar.

Did it from my pocket in my jeans. I'm thinking from bending down or something where my other set of keys clicked it.

It happened far too many times with my hand operating the key fob inside my pocket.

It was raining hard and I was supposed to open the trunk lid, but instead, long-pressed the unlock key and unintentionally opened the moon-roof and all windows under the heavy rain.

Don't wanna sound like a dick but that's not Acura's fault.

Of course not, but they give you the ability to disable the smart/keyless door entry. And they give you the ability to disable electronic trunk pop via toggle switches in the glove box...

And I can change the sensitivity of the auto headlights, and change the auto door unlock (driver or all of them).

Why can't I disable this?

Totally agree. This is no one's fault.

My post is a response to SilverJ's comment that it could not be done. But in fact, I have done it far too many times.
