That's cool that you have a track you can go to and take your car up to 125.

It moves out from 80-110 as fast as anything needs to. If you've got need to go beyond that - you probably want to shop something less than a 5000lb AWD tourer.

I grew up in Chicago and have seen this before!!! But the 125 was done on the way from Victorville Ca. to Mammoth Lake Ca. Their is a 50 mile stretch of just 2 lane traffic. I had to semi's and two cars all lined up. Hit a spot where I could see WAY DOWN the road, pulled out and Hit The gas!!!! Beeped Horn and flashed Lights as I sped past everyone.. When I finally pulled back into the lane I looked at the speedometer..

Be careful. My top all time highest speed was 130 mph in my 911. It was not on the track and I was an IDIOT for doing it. Even though I was following a more experienced 911 driver on a long slow downhill with 2 miles of visibility, I will never do it again. For the most part it was really frightening, and on top of that I put my faith in an 11 year old car, but far more importantly, I could not control the environment. My words of wisdom are: If you want to max out your car…Go To the Track!

The 6MT feels like a totally different car compared to the AT. It really goes to show what can happen when you have a different geared transmission. Will be interesting to see if the 6AT makes it to the 2012 and how that changes things.

^^Petec is right. The car is deceptively fast. It is so smooth and quite when you're just motoring around, but when you get on it, things happen right now. And that sound. Love it.

yea I am also curious to see how much faster it will be with a 6AT. But even a 14.1 quarter mile is plenty fast for me.

Precisely. Besides cramped accommodations it doesn't take advantage of more ponies....can you say horsepower mismanagement.

3G '08 TL Type S
Quote: That is why my numbers of 290whp/262tq will give low 13 secs on good tires....My time will be based on a good 60 ft with tires...Tq and Hp will take care of the miles...Not to mention that MT is at least 100 pounds less than AT transmissions...If I run a 13.5@105 Im happy...In my opinion...extremely well driven I can pull a 13.3/13.2 on bad ass tires about 106/107mph...My car with me in it is 3,759lbs...numbers and videos will be posted on december when i return from Afghanistan...

I don't get where you guys go to drive 100+ MPH. I'd be scared shitless...probably good since I'm 17.

Hope you all have radar detectors and such.

You are not alone. I gave up the radar laser detector as I'm stuck in stop-n-go rush hour traffic most of the time anyhow.

Since I started this thread, yes, I use an Escort 9500iX and I go 40 miles EAST of San Diego on interstate 8. Long, Straight, two lanes, concrete, very flat and smooth and Isolated . Same Place they were filming a new episode of Top Gear for the History Channel!!
