Cool How to Calculate Mileage

This is more of an infomative thread.

According to my Acura 2012 manual, to get miles per gallon you have to take miles driven and devided by gallons of fuel.

I did the math for my old TL-S 2007 and i got 11MPG!!

Miles Driven / Gallons of Fuel = Mile per Gallon

Thats pretty bad mine is about 14-17 mpg. On my old RL the rear brakes seized a bit and i was getting 9-10mpg lol.

I reset my trip odometer every time I fill up and I consistently average 18-23 MPG's.

I am yet to reach an empty tank. As soon as i do i'll calculate my millage and post it.

Is there a "break-in" period for calculating the millage on a brand new car?

A new cars "break-in" period can be a few thousand miles depending on car and how you drive.
But for MPG give it 500 - 1000.
And check the accuracy of speedometer / odometer before calcuating MPG {on track or known measured distance}.
The odometer is often off and gives false MPG.

<sarcasm>What a novel concept; you mean "Miles Per Gallon" is actually how many miles you can travel on a gallon of gas?</sarcasm> :eyeroll

The AWD car in stock trim will get 25-30 all day long if you keep your foot out of it. Hammer down launches = 15-20.

I have a running average of about 22mpg of mixed driving. Use a handy iPhone app to track gas and expenses...

OP the formula you gave is correct. Try calculating it with liters and kilometers which I have to do. How come nobody can spell "mileage" correctly. ;-)
