Highest Miles/kilometers 4G TL
I'm about to do the timing belt kit on my 2009 TL SH-AWD, it was last done at 112,000 km and now I am at 284,000KM . How many more miles can I expect out of this car? It does burn oil but I couldn't be bothered dealing with acura out of warrantee.
Who has the most miles out there? was looking up in the search and couldn't find a thread for this topic for our cars.
My 1999 Honda Accord V6 coupe was still running when I sold it at 380,000KM years ago. Albeit, barely. Sadly I don't see them on the roads these days.

I'm assuming you're from Canada? Where everything rusts?
Acuras are generally reliable. The J series has been around.
What are you proposing?
Just putting off the maintenance until the engine fails?
Or foregoing the maintenance to buy a new car? Do you want or need a new car?

...minus the complexity and all the components and electronic wizardry of the AWD system
different trans
different engine
different springs/shocks
different chassis
different wiring and features
etc etc
Idk about "close enough".
OP...
Its a Honda. It should run for a long time if you maintain it. You've already got almost 180K trouble free miles. Of course, at this point, things like suspension bushings, shocks, etc will start to slowly wear and fail.
Its an old car that will require maintenance and repair. But it should keep on running.

Yep. The FWD cars are undoubtedly solid as a rock.
The AWD cars have so much additional complexity that its tough to tell which is stronger...the fact that its a Honda. Or the fact that its complex.
SH AWD has been around for a while and I haven't heard of any known failure or trouble points.
There's just a lot more stuff to maintain or fail, is all.
The engine itself is another thing. The J series is tried and true. But...a linerless, eutectic block J series? Not sure how long it will last.
I've seen the AWD versions with 300K miles on them, so its definitely possible.

Drifting
Honda/Acura's long-time reliability standard has been that the drivetrain can go 300,000 miles with no major failures. We've only tested to that about 200K on a couple of Hondas we've owned.
The TL has generally proven to be pretty reliable. As someone else said, be sure to stay on top of the oil situation if yours uses some oil. If you have an auto, I'd expect that to need some work somewhere between now and 300K.
As others have said, the J series motors are pretty proven.

There’s a guy on YouTube The Acura Channel that has a 2011 TL 3.7 and he has over 300k miles on same engine & transmission & it’s crazy cause he’s always racing it

The TL will easily reach high mileage.
My Type S has half a million kilometers.
I've noticed these 4G TLs for sale can have some serious mileage on them. People must love driving them.

High mileage TL SH-AWD
My 2012 TL SH-AWD 3.7 6MT has about 345,000 km (214,500 miles) on it. I'm the third owner. Besides regular maintenance parts, everything is factory original. Runs amazingly well, without ANY issues. I don't believe it had the "oil recall" service done. I do check the oil level every time I fill up and add oil when needed. If I were to guess, I'd say it burns a quart (0.94 l) every 5,000 km, which I don't think is that bad for a high mileage engine that's driven "spiritedly". I change the oil every 5,000 - 6500 km with Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage and use a larger Honda S2000 oil filter. Will be replacing the entire original suspension this winter, because at 345K, it's overdue. Will also be replacing the timing belt and water pump, because I have no idea when, or even if, it was last replaced. After that, as far as I'm concerned, it will be as close to a brand new car I'll ever have and it should last long enough for my estate to have to deal with it, after I'm dead and gone.

^Make sure you torque that S2000 filter to between 15 and 18LB-FT. Its not a traditional filter and can spin off if not torqued. Lots of S2000 engine fires and failures due to hand-tightened filters.
No chance you're getting to that number without using tools. Honda sells a wrench adapter for the filter.

I'm currently at 225k miles on a '12 FWD, and still going strong. Did the timing belt service twice, and did the valve lash adjustment during the second time. It definitely needed it as power was noticably down, but went right back to normal after. For the first timing belt service I could hear the tensioner clicking at around 113k or so as well.
The car will tell you when something's wrong long before it becomes catastrophic. Just stay on top of the engine and transmission oil changes and it should last a long time. I did notice what looked like a minor rear main seal oil leak, however when I switched to Mobil 1 high mileage full synthetic it seemed to go away. I also try to change the transmission fluid every 60k or so.
I'll admit, I'm intrigued by the new TLX Type S, but I just can't justify getting a new car when my TL runs so great. My goal is to hit 300k and then re-evaluate.

My 2010 TL, SH-AWD, 6MT has 256,000 miles. Still on original clutch (knock on wood!). I do have the oil burning issue, so I do check the oil level frequently. Only other issues I've had are failing paint (crow's fee cracking below the clear coat) and a failed alternator about 2 years ago. Otherwise, car has been solid..

Such consumption fouls the spark plugs and destroys the catalytic converter, which can cost very, very expensive repairs in the future. What did the diagnostics show, consumption due to wear, or was clogged up the oil piston rings?
#21
I did the oil consumption test a few years ago and at that time, I wasn't burning more than 1 quart of oil per 1,000 miles. So, I didn't qualify for the warranty repair. I honestly don't know what the source of the oil consumption is... I just live with it!
