Help me decide please!!!....

Hey everyone, new to this site, but heres the deal....

I have a 2007 Kinetic Blue 6sp manual TL Type S, love the car, love everything about it, (except the front drive), im leasing it and have a year left on the lease.

I work for an Acura/Honda dealer near seattle, and well basically I just want something new... We have 2 SH-AWD TLs, both with the 19" HPT, one white diamond pearl, with black guts, and the other one is Crystal black, with black guts, I can trade up now and with zero out of pocket keep my payments with in 50.00 of my 07, for the 09 (of course rolling over negative equity, from that one, and also the negative i rolled into it) or lower the payments 50.00 if i can sell my car on my own(not rolling so much negative over)

Heres the dilemma, i get bored quickly with cars, and I like the 4g, but dont know if i like the automatic, and dont know if i can wait until the 2010 6sp. Will i get bored of the 09? Im getting older and will i maybe enjoy having an automatic after having 2 6sp TLs, an Integra Type R, and my first Acura a 98 Integra GSR, all manuals??? or will i get the auto, and be bored with a quickness?

the other option is a used Lexus ISF from another dealer that would raise my payments like 200.00 a month, which would be a purchase not a lease.

So i dont know what to do? your thoughts please???? also if i choose 09 TL what color, white or black, LOL, thanks...

Wow. This is just too much fun to play with other peoples money. JK. Welcome to the forum! I have the FWD with tech package in Black Pearl with Ebony interior and I love it. I had the grill and back bumper painted and it looks great, so I couldn't imagine how much better the AWD would be. Owners of the AWD say it's a whole 'nother level too! I'm in LA and I love the fact that I've only seen one 09' TL so far. My neighbors have new Lexus', a ISF and GS, and they're both retired. My other neighbor used to have a TL and got a Infiniti, so I had to stick with the trusty TL line! I choose the path less travelled, plus Ilove the car regardless!!! So, I'd recommend the AWD, Black with Ebony is sweet, plus the paddle shifters will keep you busy, and go easy on those calf muscles in the city!

I actually drove the car too, it's light and fast, but too small in the interior and I don't like the layout or color schemes. Plus, Lexus' are everywhere in So Cal, and I'm not a sheep, I don't follow the herd. Good luck with it, it's a great decision to have!

Might not be the advice your looking for but IMHO- you need to take the path to get out of having all this negative equity following you and not compound it more. Getting into something else is only going to make matters worse for you in the long run.

Finish out your lease. By that time, the MT for the SH-AWD will be out and you will make a more informed decision.

at some point in time the negative equity is going to catch up with you....if your bored already with your type s, your going to get bored quick with the sh, and if you get the auto now, your going to wish you had waited for the 6sp when it comes out and then your going to make yet another bad decision....all the bad decisions stacking up on each other are going to be dissasterous at some point in time, and then your going to find yourself driving a honda civic.....be smart...

What's another 12 months? It'll go by like *that*.

You'll be much happier driving your new car (whatever it might be) knowing you're not carrying all the negative equity from your previous rides.

Besides, the 3G Type S is a pretty slick ride. I'd wait if I were you.

Road and Track tested the 2010 TL 6MT and this is what they had to say:

"The TL was easily the fastest car around their test track; the closest competitors were the Audi S4 and BMW 335i. But almost all the cars lacked the sensitivity, corner-exit speed and sporting character of the Acura.

Gone are the days of burning up the front tires. The Acura TL is a real performance sedan. What used to be a nice, sporting sedan, is now a serious bear-your-teeth sports sedan. "

Isn't the 2010 model supposed to come out in sometime in October of 2009.

Negative equity means you're still paying for past decisions. I agree, let the lease run out then get into something else.

I'm gonna say it get the IS-F.................

.............when you get really old and retire

but for now, as my very wise parents would say, stick with the lease and wait for the 2010 6-SPD

Stay in your TL-S lease, that way you keep the 6sp and wait for the car you want. As you know, used car values are very low right now, so I recommend to anyone to stay in their current car until the market balances out ... especially in your case.

You get bored of cars because you work at a Acura/Honda dealership...start driving around the Fits and the Civics and you'll appreciate your TL-S more ... he!l, throw in an Odyssey and you'll really start lovin' your car again

I don't understand people who dump that kind of money into cars and then continue to compound the debt and make it harder on themselves. I agree with everyone else on here, keep the TL-S...

Dude sell me ur car!! lol j/k (almost!) but everyone here's right - stick with your current ride at least till the end of your lease and try to get rid of your negative equity as quickly as you can. Trust me, by the time you're in your mid 30s you'll hate to be in a position where you have to downsize to something like a civic, etc., because you want to buy a house, start a family, etc.

And not to get too personal but I know of a few people who got laid off from their dealerships (they're in sales, too) b/c of the bad economy. Not to jinx you or anything but that's the last thing you want happen to your job. I also know of a few top producers at high-end dealerships who got their commissions seriously jacked because the dealership wasn't pulling in the volume they used to! And they lost their "loaner" privileges on top of that!

Seriously, I don't know how you could possibly get "bored" out of your KBP 6-speed, which is absolutely SICK, btw, but insofar as cars, I'd wait for the 6-speed '10 model, which, for all of the bones of contentions the '09 has had, the '10 prototype tested was rated very highly and seemed to shut the auto journalists up for the most part. The one comment that I remember (probably from R&T) was that Acura's newly-revised 6MT gearbox (revised to handle the additional power output and the AWD application) seemed to be the best possible use of the SH-AWD drivetrain. Or something like that. But if money were no object, I would agree with the poster on getting the "pre-owned" IS-F!

Oh, and def. post up pix of your ride! (Probably best in the 3G forum.)

I would totally sell it, that's my first choice, I've had it on craigs list and autotrader, not a single bite! And I priced it what I thought was pretty agressive but nothing, , selling it would almost wash the negative equity, and as far as my job, ya I've seen a decrease in business, but just makes ya work a little harder, ive been there a long timeand they have already layed off everone they're going to to mAke sure the core top guys make a living. So not worried about that. Plus we don't get a free demo of anything, just a cash bonus to help with the payment, as long as it's a Honda or Acura, that's the other draw back of the Lexus, I'd lose the demo bonus. (500.00) we'll see, see what happens if I can sell it first then go from there.

well im sure the NSX, even if they do decide to bring it out after the market gets better(which it will soon) will be a little outta my range. Ive had a chance to drive the new M3, and its cool, but i honestly like the ISF and my current TL better, even though the performance of the BMW is with out question, better than the TL, and personally, driving the ISF and M3 back to back, I can honestly say i like the ISF better. It may not be as performance oriented as the M3, but the car it self I feel is a better daily driver, quieter, smoother, more luxury and tech features, which is what i like about the TL....

the M would kill me if I owned one. on the 30min drive I had in one - some thoughts I had: this is loud - and could I use for a daily driver? , but sure was fun -

If you wait till your lease is up the 6spd might be out on the new TL.

I actually think the Type S is a really cool car. Every time I see one, I always stare like some school-aged kid.
