Hear Ye, Hear Ye...2012 TL SH-AWD Tech 6MT w/ 3K miles

This is probably THE absolute lowest and cleanest 4th Gen TL 6MT in existence, maybe even among automatics. It has shockingly low mileage (3K) and meticulous maintenance record. It took a lot to give up on the idea so now that others don't pose a risk to my decision anymore, I'm sharing this ULTRA RARE gem with the world. Amazing find! And that baby blue exterior is 🔥🔥🔥

If this is truly as advertised, it will be a real gem for someone. Rare color for a 6MT too.

Looks legit, I looked over Carfax, checked all kinds of vehicle history records, it really seems 100% as advertised. Can't get over that color and 6MT and only 3K miles. Unreal!

I ran this car through the KBB value estimator. Used "excellent" for condition. KBB says trade in value range is $14, 821 - $16,403, in the zip code of the seller. Beautiful car, but IMO, the current asking price is crazy high given the trade in value stated.

The price is very interesting but it's got nothing to compare to in terms of rare combo of milage mt and color. Speaking of that I can't help but notice each time I search for these cars for sale they never have the body kit. I even see more 6mt than any model with the kit (I typically search in the GTA).

KBB is useless, no offense.

Current Accord came out in 2017 and even 5 years later, their "trade-in" tool doesn't recognize different Sport trims. Run 1.5T Sport and 2.0T Sport and it's $20 more for 2.0T. Literally $20 dollars. MSRP difference is almost $5K. Aside from more powerful (and better K-series) engine, you get a FAR more superior transmission (10AT vs CVT) and then there's a myriad of things you get from EX trims that are only on 2.0T Sport (heated seats and mirrors, sunroof, XM radio, rear cross traffic alerts, blind spot monitoring, walk away smart lock, etc.). KBB is literally the worst. That 10AT is worth the money alone not to mention everything else. I'm not saying this TL is worth $30K, I'm just saying KBB means nothing.

This car has rear engine seal oil leaking. I think it has been sitting too long.

Imagine what else would start leaking if someone bought it and actually drove it an average amount. Especially the way a mt TL wants to be driven.

Is this the car you opened a thread asking about? You said something about an 8K mile car having a leak or something

What are you trying to ask?

They replied to you in that thread and said they were aware of this 3k mile car and that it had an inspection done on it which indicated it also had a leaking rear main seal. They did not specify how they knew this though.

You make a good case for that, but where else would you look for a value estimate? Edmunds doesn't display values anymore without a "valid license plate:" unless you give them more personal info.

Ultimately the car is only worth what someone is actually willing to pay for it. I would expect that the seller has put a moonshot price on it and would eventually reduce it considerably. When I bought my car ('13 SH-AWD AT) 6 years ago as a CPO with 27k miles on it there was an original asking price sticker in the trunk that was almost $5k more than I ended up paying for it (and the price was lowered a couple times before I actually test drove it and settled on a price with the dealer). That was almost $5k less than they want for this 10 year old car. And just because it's very low mileage doesn't mean it will be trouble free. Some components degrade with age, not just mileage.

It's there, they just hid it. Click on "Don't have license plate?" followed by "Get appraisal report without a VIN" and then scroll down past CarMax ad and you'll see a very accurate and detailed estimate of your car.

So Edmunds puts the trade in value at KBB's low end. I suspect that so few of the MT cars change hands that accurate comps are hard for those websites to find, so deciding what the premium for the MT would be is "how bad do you want it?"

In my experience selling MT cars, most pricing guides under-price them. They actually subtract $XXX if the car's not an auto. The exception may be true sports cars.

But in the real world, while the market for an MT car may be smaller, those who want them really want them and are willing to pay a premium for a clean example of the model they are seeking.

The market value of MT cars in a lot of cases today is gonna be higher than AT.

MT is a "desirable" option in today's used sport sedan market.

KBB isn't reflectant of market trends. At some point, the numbers diverge so far that KBB stops estimating value for a car.

Look at the S2000 or ITR market vs KBB.

Inflation and market demand are anotjeranother factor to consider.

And are you guys putting the actual mileage into your KBB estimator? Or just using the default yearly estimate?

Lastly...if you had a 3K mile, mint, 6MT TL-SH...would you sell it for the $15K KBB estimate?

I wouldn't.

I used the actual mileage in both the KBB and Edmunds trade-in value estimators.

I agree, if that was my car I wouldn't sell it for that, but I wouldn't expect to get $30k for it. It all comes down to "how bad do I want to sell it vs how bad does someone else want to buy it?"
